Cure and mech. properties of carbon black filled hydrogenated acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (HNBR) incorporated with various types and loadings of additives acting as processing aids were investigated. With increased loadings of Sartomer TRIM and Sartomer ZDA, a crosslink promotion phenomenon was observed, which could be explained by the presence of unsaturated structure in these additives. Mech. properties of the HNBR vulcanisates are dominated by plasticization effect, mol. slippage and crosslink d. A correlation of heat build-up (HBU) to hardness of vulcanisates was established, in which the HBU decreases with increased hardness via the increase in crosslink d.
