Papaya (Carica papaya L.) fruit are consumed worldwide, but they are highly perishable. The effects of the application of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) with and without ethylene on ‘Golden’ papaya ripening and production of volatile compounds responsible for aroma. Fruit were treated with 2.5 μl L-1 ethylene and/or 100 nL L-1 of 1-MCP for 12 h as follows: I) control, II) ethylene, III) 1-MCP, IV) ethylene + 1-MCP (simultaneous), V) ethylene followed by application of 1-MCP at a 12 h interval and VI) ethylene + 1-MCP without any interval. Pulp firmness, skin color, skin chlorophyll content, skin and pulp carotenoids, ethylene production, respiratory activity, internal ethylene concentration (IEC), pectin Me esterase (PME) activity, 1-carboxylic acid-1-aminocyclopropane oxidase (ACC oxidase) activity and volatile compounds were measured. Fruit were stored at 22 °C, with anal. of volatile compounds performed until day 8 and all others until day 6. Fruit treated with only 1-MCP developed rubberized pulp. Fruit treated simultaneously with ethylene and 1-MCP reached desirable firmness for consumption by day 6. Co-application of 1-MCP + ethylene promoted chlorophyll degradation A consistent increase in ethylene production in 1-MCP-treated fruit above those observed in control fruit and in fruit treated with ethylene only was observed In relation to volatile compounds, linalool and its oxides were affected less by 1-MCP treatment, with or without ethylene, on days 2 and 6, and did not affect fruit flavor. Research on the controllable degradation of N-methylamido and dialkylamino substituted at the 5th position of the benzene ring in chlorsulfuron in acidic soil was written by Meng, Fan-Fei;Wu, Lei;Gu, Yu-Cheng;Zhou, Sha;Li, Yong-Hong;Chen, Ming-Gui;Zhou, Shaa;Zhao, Yang-Yang;Ma, Yi;Li, Zheng-Ming. Owing to the lengthy residual problems associated with chlorsulfuron, metsulfuron-Me, and ethametsulfuron, which prevents them from being used in the “annual multi-crop planting system”, the application of these sulfonylurea herbicides (SU) has regrettably been terminated in China since 2014. In this field, we were the first to discover that the 5th position of the benzene ring in chlorsulfuron is a key point for influencing its degradation rate and the amino moiety at this position showed faster degradation rates and maintained their original potent bioactivity. In this study, we further elaborated on N-methylamido and dialkylamino substituents at the same position in chlorsulfuron to obtain 18 novel structures as M and N series. Their half-life degradation (DT50) values were faster, to varying degrees, than chlorsulfuron in acidic soil. It was found that most of the titled structures also retained their potent herbicidal activity and the crop safety of the M series towards corn greatly increased. Based on these data, a comprehensive graph describing the structure/degradation relationship was established first. Relating to the new mols., their herbicidal activity (A), degradation rates (D), and crop safety (S) relationship were correlated and we used this approach to predict and explore the most preferable mol., which coincided to the corresponding exptl. data. The new concept of controllable degradation will provide us with more insight when searching for new ecol. bioactive mols. in the future. Their stability under physiol.-relevant conditions (PBS solution) and n-octanol/PBS distribution coefficient (D7.4) also were evaluated. Au(III) glycoconjugates showed an antiproliferative effect against ovarian carcinoma A2780 cells, with GI50 values in the low micromolar range. Remarkably, their cell growth inhibitory effect increases upon the addition of a glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1) inhibitor, thus ruling out the involvement of GLUT1 in their transport inside the cell. Addnl. mechanistic studies were carried out in A2780 cells, supporting the hypothesis of a facilitated diffusion mechanism (possibly mediated by glucose transporters other than GLUT1), and revealing their capability to act as topoisomerase I and II inhibitors and to disrupt mitochondrial membrane integrity, giving ROS, thus resulting in the promotion of oxidative stress and, eventually, cell death. A visible-light-induced modular methodol. for the synthesis of complex 3,3′-disubstituted oxindole derivatives, e.g. I, is reported. A library of valuable fluoroalkyl-containing highly sterically congested oxindole derivatives can be synthesized by a catalytic three-component radical coupling reaction under mild conditions (metal and photocatalyst free, >80 examples). This strategy shows high functional group tolerance and broad substrate compatibility. Substrates include a wide variety of terminal or non-terminal alkenes, conjugated dienes (e.g. prop-1-en-2-ylbenzene), and enynes RC(:CH2)CCR1 (R = Me, Ph, R1 = H, Ph, cyclopropyl, 3-chloropropyl), and a broad array of polyfluoroalkyl iodide and oxindoles II (R2 = 7-Cl, 5-Br, 4,6-F2, etc., R3 = Ph, 5-methylthiophen-2-yl, 6-methoxynaphthalen-1-yl, etc.), which enables modular modification of complex drug-like compounds in one chem. step. The success of solar-driven transformation, large-scale synthesis, and the late-stage functionalization of bioactive mols., as well as promising tumor-suppressing biol. activities, highlights the potential for practical applications of this strategy. Mechanistic investigations, including a series of control experiments, UV-vis spectroscopy and DFT calculations, suggest that the reaction underwent a sequential two-step radical-coupling process and the photosensitive perfluoroalkyl benzyl iodides are key intermediates in the transformation. Understanding metabolite changes and underlying metabolic pathways that may be affected in target plants following essential oils (EOs) exposure is of great importance. In this study, a gas chromatog.-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) based metabolomics approach was used to determine the metabolite changes in lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) shoot and root after exposure to different concentrations of W. trilobata EO. Multivariate analyses of principal component anal. (PCA) and orthogonal partial least-discriminant anal. (OPLS-DA) corroborated that shoot and root of lettuce responded differently to W. trilobata EO. In EO-exposed shoot samples, an increase in the levels of malic acid, glutamine, serine, lactose and α-glucopyranose affected important metabolism pathways such as glycolysis, fructose and mannose metabolism and galactose metabolism The findings suggest that lettuce may be up-regulating these metabolites to increase tolerance against W. trilobata EO. In EO-exposed root samples, changes in fatty acid biosynthesis, elongation, degradation, phenylalanine, tyrosine and tryptophan metabolism were linked to a decrease in lyxose, palmitic acid, octadecanoic acid, aspartic acid, phenylalanine and myo-inositol. These results indicate that W. trilobata EO could cause alterations in fatty acid compositions and lead to inhibition of roots growth. Together, these findings provide insight into the metabolic responses of lettuce upon W. trilobata EO exposure, as well as potential mechanisms of action of W. trilobata EO as bio-herbicides. Aroma investigation of new and standard apple varieties grown at two altitudes using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry combined with sensory analysis was written by Chitarrini, Giulia;Dordevic, Nikola;Guerra, Walter;Robatscher, Peter;Lozano, Lidia. And the article was included in Molecules in 2020.Safety of Octyl acetate The following contents are mentioned in the article:

The aromatic profile of apples constitutes important information for the characterization and description of local products. Apple flavor is determined by perception in mouth and aroma; while the first is mainly defined by sugars and organic acids, aroma is a complex mixture of many volatile organic compounds (VOCs) whose composition is often specific to the variety. Headspace-solid phase microextraction gas chromatog. coupled with mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) allows for the detection of detailed information of volatile constituents. In this study, eleven apple varieties (Braeburn, Fuji, Gala, Golden Delicious, Coop 39-Crimson Crisp, Dalinette-Choupette, Fujion, CIV323-Isaaq, Coop43-Juliet, SQ159-Natyra, UEB32642-Opal) grown in two pedoclimatic locations at different altitudes in South Tyrol (Italy) (ca. 225 m and ca. 650 m a.s.l.) were investigated. Thirty-eight VOCs were identified and combined with sensory anal. results (from 11 trained panelist) to characterize the aroma of new and standard apple varieties with a special focus on pedoclimatic location differences. The study shows strong diversification of the varieties based on their VOC profiles and sensory attributes, as expected. Moreover, investigating how the pedoclimatic location at different altitudes can influence the apple aroma profile, we identified twelve VOCs involved in these differences and provided a deeper investigation on how different altitudes can influence the apple aroma composition and perceptions combining the anal. and sensory parameters. Broiler chicks at 1 d of age (n = 150) were arbitrarily distributed into 6 groups. Birds from groups 1-3 were received the starter and finisher diets plus 2, 4, and 6 g of cinnamon/kg of the diet, resp. Birds from group 4 were fed the starter and finisher diets plus 66 mg of salinomycin, group 5 constituted the pos. control (PC), with the coccidial challenge, and group 6 constituted the neg. control (NC), without the coccidial infection, which were both maintained on diets without any cinnamon. The results showed that BW gain, feed conversion ratio, and production efficiency factor declined considerably (P < 0.05) in the PC compared with the NC. At seventh day postinfection (DPI), the lesion score was significantly (P < 0.05) lower in the ceca of salinomycin-treated birds than the PC. The anticoccidial index was moderate in the chickens treated with salinomycin and 6 g cinnamon at 7 DPI compared with those in the PC group. In addition, cinnamon- or salinomycin-treated birds exhibited lower oocyst values and higher oocyst reduction rate than those in the PC. In the food-packaging industry, ethylene vinyl alc. (EVOH) is an attractive material due to its excellent gas barrier properties. Unfortunately, moisture sensitivity drastically limits the use of EVOH for packaging applications. To address this shortcoming, EVOH is often layered with other thermoplastic polymers or blended with nanomaterials to create films suitable for food packaging. However, these current nanocomposite strategies are still quite limited as a large volume of solvent is typically required. In this work, we present an approach to develop a food grade, EVOH nanocomposite material containing cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) via melt compounding. Two food-grade plasticizers (monolaurin and glyceryl monostearate) were studied as potential compatibilizers, and the compatibility of both plasticizers with CNCs and EVOH were evaluated using Hansen solubility parameters (HSPs). The Hansen solubility spheres indicated that monolaurin is a good compatibilizer, and it was thus studied exptl. Excellent dispersion of CNCs into EVOH was achieved by compounding premixed monolaurin and CNCs, prepared by codissoln./evaporation in a suitable ethanol/water cosolvent. Nanocomposite films with effective CNC dispersion prepared in this study also showed enhanced mech., thermal, and water barrier properties. Our results demonstrate the applicability of CNC/monolaurin/EVOH films for packaging applications and demonstrate, for the first time, effective dispersion of CNCs into a food-grade EVOH barrier material using melt compounding. This study involved multiple reactions and reactants, such as Glyceryl monostearate (cas: 31566-31-1Category: esters-buliding-blocks).

Glyceryl monostearate (cas: 31566-31-1) belongs to esters. Esters perform as high-grade solvents for a broad array of plastics, plasticizers, resins, and lacquers, and are one of the largest classes of synthetic lubricants on the commercial market. Cyclic esters are called lactones, regardless of whether they are derived from an organic or inorganic acid. One example of an organic lactone is γ-valerolactone.Category: esters-buliding-blocks
