Hu, Jing published the artcileComparative study on the effect of two drying methods on the guest encapsulation behavior of osmanthus flavor-2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin inclusion complex, Recommanded Product: Benzyl acetate, the main research area is oven freeze drying encapsulation osmanthus flavor hydroxypropyl beta cyclodextrin.

In this study, osmanthus flavor (OF) and HP-β-CD were used to prepare OF and HP-β-CD inclusion complex (OF-CD). OF-CD powders were obtained with oven-drying and freeze-drying, sep. The effect of drying methods was investigated with the morphol. and odor evaluation first. The chem. structure and flavor loading ratio of OF-CDs were determined by Fourier transform IR spectroscopy (FTIR) and Gas chromatog.-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The flavor was successfully be encapsulated by HP-β-CD forming OF-CD inclusion complex. Oven-drying led to compact blocky solid, while freeze-drying resulted in porous morphol. The amount of flavor in OF-CD with oven-drying (48.61 μg[n.8260]g) was found lower than that in OF-CD with freeze-drying (58.1 μg[n.8260]g). In particular, the content of alcoholics in OF-CD with oven-drying (11.8 μg[n.8260]g) was much lower than that in OF-CD with freeze-drying (19.04 μg[n.8260]g). Thermogravimetric anal. (TGA) showed that the average activation energy of OF-CD with oven-drying (66.3-135.4 kJ mol-1) was higher than OF-CD with freeze-drying (53.0-100.7 kJ mol-1) by 13.3-34.7 kJ mol-1. More intermol. hydrogen bonds in OF-CD with freeze-drying led to high encapsulation of partial components; however, they are not thermostable, resulting in fast release at high temperature The better thermal stability of OF-CD with oven-drying makes itself a better candidate for flavor encapsulation for cooking at high temperature

Zhang, Boqin published the artcileUse of Torulaspora delbrueckii and Hanseniaspora vineae co-fermentation with Saccharomyces cerevisiae to improve aroma profiles and safety quality of Petit Manseng wines, COA of Formula: C9H18O2, the main research area is Torulaspora Hanseniaspora Saccharomyces fermentation safety quality Petit Manseng wines.

Nowadays, the inoculation of more than one non-Saccharomyces species in combination with S. cerevisiae was proposed to compensate the shortage of one non-Saccharomyces species and further enhance the wine quality. In this work, the fermentation performance of different co-inoculation ratios of Hanseniaspora vineae CVE-HV6 and Torulaspora delbrueckii CVE-TD20 sequential inoculation with S. cerevisiae was evaluated in Petit Manseng grape must. Results revealed that H. vineae and T. delbrueckii co-inoculation treatments increased the concentrations of desired aroma compounds, and decreased levels of acetic acid and biogenic amines compared to S. cerevisiae pure culture and the mixed cultures involved one non-Saccharomyces strain. The treatment of H. vineae and T. delbrueckii with a 2:8 inoculation ratio achieved the highest levels of major Et esters and the lowest level of acetic acid. Wines using co-inoculation of T. delbrueckii and H. vineae yeasts had less biogenic amines, especially tyramine, which was more pronounced with the increasing proportion of H. vineae. These results indicated that co-inoculating H. vineae and T. delbrueckii strains with the optimal ratio can make up some enol. shortages of non-Saccharomyces species, and effectively improve the overall quality of wine products.

Araujo, Maria Flavia Rodrigues Starling’s team published research in Chemical Engineering Journal (Amsterdam, Netherlands) in 2021-06-01 | CAS: 110-42-9

Chemical Engineering Journal (Amsterdam, Netherlands) published new progress about Alkylation. 110-42-9 belongs to class esters-buliding-blocks, name is Methyl decanoate, and the molecular formula is C11H22O2, Category: esters-buliding-blocks.

Araujo, Maria Flavia Rodrigues Starling published the artcileSimultaneous thermal liquefaction of sugarcane bagasse and esterification with ethanol and fusel oil: One-Step process for biofuel production, Category: esters-buliding-blocks, the main research area is ethanol fusel oil biofuel thermal liquefaction sugarcane bagasse esterification.

Sugarcane bagasse is an abundant residue from the ethanol/sugar industries and its liquefaction can be a low-cost process for the production of liquid biofuels. However, the resulting biocrude has high acidity, which requires an upgrading before being used. In this study, ethanol and fusel oil, which is the heavy residue of ethanol distillation made up of higher alcs., were used as solvents for the liquefaction of bagasse. The 1:10 biomass:solvent ratio mixture was used at 300 °C for 30 min and (10 bar) N2 atmosphere. A mixture of both solvents was also tested to make a comparative study. The process with ethanol showed 72% bagasse conversion, but the best result showed 91% with fusel oil, producing a low biochar content (9%). After the distillation of the liquid product, a biocrude with high combustion heat (30.6 MJ.kg-1) and rich in esters was obtained. The results of GC/MS revealed the greater presence of esters with substituted isoamyl groups (51.2%) and, to a lesser extent, phenolic compounds (2.5%). The biochar has a higher heating value of 30 MJ.kg-1 and special thermal stability, suitable for application as a solid fuel. The biocrude was mixed with marine diesel (5%) and the properties of the mixture were evaluated, without relevant modifications. This innovative process showed the use of two residues, bagasse, and fusel oil, to produce a biofuel to be used with different types of diesel, with economic and environmental gains in a cycle economy for the ethanol industry.

Liu, Di’s team published research in International Journal of Food Microbiology in 2021-01-02 | CAS: 106-32-1

International Journal of Food Microbiology published new progress about Alternaria. 106-32-1 belongs to class esters-buliding-blocks, name is Ethyl octanoate, and the molecular formula is C10H20O2, Application of Ethyl octanoate.

Liu, Di published the artcileDiversity and dynamics of fungi during spontaneous fermentations and association with unique aroma profiles in wine, Application of Ethyl octanoate, the main research area is wine aroma spontaneous fermentation fungi diversity dynamics; Fungal microbiota; Microbial biogeography; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; Spontaneous fermentation; Wine.

Microbial ecol. is an integral part of an agricultural ecosystem and influences the quality of agricultural commodities. Microbial activity influences grapevine health and crop production, conversion of sugar to ethanol during fermentation, thus forming wine aroma and flavor. There are regionally differentiated microbial patterns in grapevines and must but how microbial patterns contribute to wine regional distinctiveness (terroir) at small scale (<100 km) is not well defined. Here we characterize fungal communities, yeast populations, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae populations during spontaneous fermentation using metagenomics and population genetics to investigate microbial distribution and fungal contributions to the resultant wine. We found differentiation of fungi, yeasts, and S. cerevisiae between geog. origins (estate/vineyard), with influences from the grape variety. Growth and dominance of S. cerevisiae during fermentation reshaped the fungal community and showed geog. structure at the strain level. Associations between fungal microbiota diversity and wine chems. suggest that S. cerevisiae plays a primary role in determining wine aroma profiles at a sub-regional scale. The geog. distribution at scales of less than 12 km supports that differential microbial communities, including the dominant fermentative yeast S. cerevisiae can be distinct in a local setting. These findings provide further evidence for microbial contributions to wine terroir, and perspectives for sustainable agricultural practices to maintain microbial diversity and optimize fermentation function to craft beverage quality. Textile Research Journal published new progress about Adsorption. 140-11-4 belongs to class esters-buliding-blocks, name is Benzyl acetate, and the molecular formula is C9H10O2, Category: esters-buliding-blocks.

Richter, Tobias M. published the artcileBinding and release of odor compounds from textiles: Changing fiber selection for apparel, Category: esters-buliding-blocks, the main research area is odor compound binding release textile fiber selection apparel.

Understanding odor volatiles known to constitute those emanating from the human body and how these interact with textiles is relevant to diverse interested parties because of changing fiber use, a better understanding of apparel life cycles including cleaning and the potential for fiber/textile re-use. This paper extends the application of our proton transfer reaction-mass spectrometry model system on adsorption and release behavior of fiber types typical of next-to-skin uses to include both viscose and other volatile organic compounds in body odor for which release has not previously been studied (hexanoic acid, acetone, cyclohexanone, hexanal, Me butanoate, Et benzene, 1-octanol, decanal, butanoic acid). The current findings confirmed release patterns of different fiber types found in our earlier studies – low release of volatile organic compounds from cotton and wool, but higher release from polyester – and made a new finding of low release from viscose. Adsorption characteristics were different given the different volatile organic compounds analyzed. Viscose showed better adsorption characteristics for primarily polar volatile organic compounds, but was otherwise very similar to cotton.

Minerals Engineering published new progress about Adsorption. 111-11-5 belongs to class esters-buliding-blocks, name is Methyl octanoate, and the molecular formula is C9H18O2, Quality Control of 111-11-5.

Li, Fuzeng published the artcileFlotation and adsorption mechanism studies of antimony sulfide with 5-heptyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thione as a collector, Quality Control of 111-11-5, the main research area is antimony sulfide heptyl oxadiazole thione collector flotation adsorption.

Oxadiazole-thione compounds include the conjugated N-, O- and S-donor atoms and possess special metal-chelating properties. In the paper, an alkyl oxadiazole-thione surfactant, 5-heptyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-thione (HpODT) was designed and synthesized as a chelating collector used for the recovery of antimony sulfide. Micro-flotation tests showed that the HpODT has better recovery and selectivity for antimony sulfide against iron and cadmium sulfide in comparison with sodium iso-Bu xanthate (SIBX). The adsorption anal. indicated that the adsorption of HpODT on antimony sulfide was a spontaneous-exothermic chemisorption process. The UV absorption spectrum (UVAS) revealed that HpODT might anchor on antimony sulfide surfaces by adsorption monolayers. The zeta potential and FTIR inferred recommended a chemisorption of antimony sulfide to HpODT. XPS afforded distinct proofs that the conjugated N- and S-donor atoms of HpODT coordinate with the surface antimony atoms of antimony sulfide to generate the hydrophobic HpODT-Sb surface complexes.

Catalysts published new progress about Adsorption. 111-11-5 belongs to class esters-buliding-blocks, name is Methyl octanoate, and the molecular formula is C9H18O2, Quality Control of 111-11-5.

Huang, Qing published the artcileNitric acid functionalization of petroleum coke to access inherent sulfur, Quality Control of 111-11-5, the main research area is petcoke nitric sulfuric acid catalyst treatment dibenzothiophene oxidation.

Sulfonated carbon-based catalysts have been identified as promising solid acid catalysts, and petroleum coke (petcoke), a byproduct of the oil industry, is a potential feedstock for these catalysts. In this study, sulfur-containing (6.5 wt%) petcoke was used as a precursor for these catalysts through direct functionalization (i.e., without an activation step) with nitric acid to access the inherent sulfur. Catalysts were also prepared using sulfuric acid and a mixture of nitric and sulfuric acid (1:3 vol ratio). Fourier transform IR spectroscopy, XPS, and titration were used to identify and quantify the acid sites. The activities of the prepared catalysts were determined for the esterification of octanoic acid with methanol. Petcoke had few -SO3H groups, and correspondingly no catalytic activity for the reaction. All acid treatments increased the number of -SO3H groups and promoted esterification. Treatment with nitric acid alone resulted in the oxidation of the inherent sulfur in petcoke to produce ∼0.7 mmol/g of strong acid sites and a total acidity of 5.3 mmol/g. The acidity (strong acid and total) was lower with sulfuric acid treatment but this sample was more active for the esterification reaction (TOF of 31 h-1 compared to 7 h-1 with nitric acid treatment).

Catalysts published new progress about Adsorption. 110-42-9 belongs to class esters-buliding-blocks, name is Methyl decanoate, and the molecular formula is C11H22O2, Synthetic Route of 110-42-9.

Zhang, Jianghua published the artcileEfficient production of medium-chain structured phospholipids over mesoporous organosulfonic acid-functionalized SBA-15 catalysts, Synthetic Route of 110-42-9, the main research area is phospholipid mesoporous organosulfonic acid silica functionalized catalyst.

It is highly desirable that efficient recoverable heterogeneous catalysts should be developed to replace the costly biocatalysts used in producing structured phospholipids (SPLs) with medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs). Thus, mesoporous Pr and Ph sulfonic acid-functionalized SBA-15 materials synthesized via surface modification methods were investigated for the soybean lecithin interesterification with Me caprate or caprylate. The physicochem. properties of the synthesized solid acids were deeply studied by small-angle X-ray diffraction, SEM, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform IR and pyridine adsorption, etc. to build the possible structure-performance relationships. The results revealed that amounts of organosulfonic acid groups were successfully grafted onto the SBA-15 support, and most of the surface acid sites contained in the as-prepared organic-inorganic hybrid samples were assigned as strong Brönsted acid sites. Notably, the functionalized SBA-15 materials exhibited promising catalytic behaviors in producing MCFA-enriched SPLs under mild conditions (40°C, 6 h) when compared with com. Amberlyst-15 and typical phospholipases or lipases, mostly due to their high surface area, ordered structure and adequate Brönsted acid sites. Besides, the as-prepared materials could be easily recycled five times without obvious deactivation. This work might shed light on alternative catalysts for SPL production instead of the costly enzymes.
