Immune-responsive gene 1 (irg1) is a gene that is well-conserved among different taxa and is highly expressed in the mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis at the constitutive level. The expression of this gene increases after a bacterial infection, primarily in haemocytes. Irg1 catalyzes the production of itaconic acid from cis-aconitic acid in the Krebs cycle. Recently, itaconate has been revealed as an immune metabolite involved in macrophage polarization. In this work, we studied the effects of exogenous di-Me itaconate (DI) on mussels in vitro and in vivo at relevant previously described endogenous concentrations and in mussels infected with Vibrio splendidus. DI did not have adverse effects on the haemocytes viability, apoptotic cells, proliferation and phagocytic activity; however, haemocyte size, velocity and accumulated distance were decreased. The antibacterial activity of DI in vitro and in vivo was observed with high concentrations of DI, i.e., 30 and 50 mM, resp. Furthermore, DI inhibited total ROS, increased mitochondrial ROS and modulated antioxidant genes, such as SOD and CAT, related to Nrf2 activation. In this research, we have demonstrated some important pathways in haemocytes in which itaconate can be involved after its production in a bacterial infection.

The reaction is demonstrated using 1,2-dibromoethane, as well as 1,1,1,2-tetrachloroethane or 1,2-dichloroethane, to dibrominate or dichlorinate, resp., a wide range of alkenes in a simple setup with inexpensive graphite electrodes. Conversely, the hexachlorinated persistent pollutant lindane could be fully dechlorinated to benzene in soil samples using simple alkene acceptors.

These solvents were incorporated into multi-component ternary and quaternary carbonate-based electrolytes and evaluated in Li-C and C-LiNi0.8Co0.2O2 cells, with Li reference electrodes. In addition to determining the charge/discharge behavior of these cells, Tafel polarization measurements, linear polarization measurements, and electrochem. impedance spectroscopy were used to further characterize the performance of these electrolytes, including the SEI formation characteristics and Li intercalation/de-intercalation kinetics.

In this paper, we report the synthesis of amidophosphineborane-supported titanium chloride 1 and alkyl complex 2 were prepared using a salt metathesis reaction. TiIV complex 1 was obtained by the reaction of the bis-borane ligand [{Ph2P(BH3)NH}2C6H4] and TiCl4 in toluene followed by the addition of 2 equiv of [LiN(SiMe3)2] at ambient temperature TiIV bis-alkyl complex 2 was isolated from the reaction of complex 1 with 2.5 equiv of LiCH2SiMe3 in toluene. The solid-state structure of complex 1 is established by single-crystal X-ray diffraction anal. TiIV bis-alkyl complex 2 has proved to be a competent catalyst in the deoxygenative reduction of aliphatic and aromatic esters with pinacolborane (HBpin) to afford corresponding boryl ethers at room temperature under solvent-free conditions. Catalyst 2 exhibits chemoselectivity toward ester functionalities over halides, heteroatoms, olefins, and amino functional groups. DFT studies demonstrate that the active form of catalyst 2 is capable of easily transferring its hydrides to ester substrates at room temperature The studies further reveal that the rate-limiting step (RLS) in an ester-to-boryl ether conversion is the cleavage of the C-O bond of an ester. In brief, the titanium-catalyzed ester-to-boryl ether conversions are found to be downhill processes having small activation barriers along all mechanistic steps.
