In this paper, gelatin hydrogels and glycerol monostearate (GMS)-enhanced Et cellulose (EC) oleogels were used as two phases for preparing bigels. The proportion of components in bigels was changed to explore the catastrophic phase inversion of bigels, which was analyzed by textural, rheol., laser confocal imaging, 3D stack modeling of techniques, and the measurement of the hydrophile-lipophile balance (HLB). As the oleogel fraction was less than 40 wt%, the bigel presented as the O/W type, and oil droplets were evenly distributed and stabilized by the gelatin, having the size smaller than 15μm. When the oleogel fraction was 42 wt%, bigels exhibited the semibicontinuous state due to the critical HLB of 8.23 that water and oil phases both had continuous and dispersed phases concurrently. The 3D model of bigels calculated a sharp increase of droplet sizes to 35μm in the transition state. The water phase in bigels became the dispersed phase when the oleogel fraction was more than 44 wt%, and GMS was mainly responsible for emulsifying and stabilizing water droplets, and the size of water droplets decreased from 35μm. Applications of bigels in decorating and 3D printing were discussed combined with phys. properties of different types of bigels. O/W bigels containing 40 wt% oleogels could inherit the hardness and formability from gelatin hydrogels and have ideal rheol. properties for decorating. W/O bigels with 60 wt% oleogels were more suitable to be used as printing ink for 3D printing, resulting from the strong thixotropy of EC oleogels. The use of Microalgae biomass for biofuel production by hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) has been proposed as an alternative to traditional fossil fuels. When comparing fossil fuels, Microalgae biocrude has a high nitrogen content, which is one of the challenges that affect this technol. This factor causes operational issues because it lowers the carbon fraction in the chem. composition, which reduces the calorific value and, as a result, raises NOx emissions during combustion. In this work, conditions were established for obtaining Microalgae biomass to allow the production of biocrude with low nitrogen content by HTL. The effect of the variation in nitrogen levels on the culture medium, on cell growth and nitrogen content, was evaluated in the final biomass for the Scenedesmus obliquus strain; at a laboratory scale, the best results (around 0.25 g/L NaNO3) were used at a bench scale with 20 L tubular photobioreactors (PBRs). The remaining biomass was processed through HTL then the resulting biocrude was characterized. The results show that as the nitrogen source in the culture medium increases, the percentage of nitrogen in the remaining biomass and the biocrude produced also increases. It was possible to establish a concentration of nitrogen source in the culture medium that promotes the accumulation of lipids, decreases the protein content in the final biomass and consequently, in the biocrude, without affecting production and yield, a critical factor to take into consideration when assessing the viability of the proposed process. TiO2-ZnO heterogeneous catalytic system provides a good replacement of a homogeneous catalytic reaction due to its easier recovery. In this study, biodiesel was produced from Ulva lactuca seaweeds using TiO2-ZnO nanocomposite catalysts with particle size of ∼12 nm. Cucumber xylem and phloem sap is a key link in nutrient distribution, transportation and signal transduction of cucumber plants; however, the metabolic response mechanism of cucumber xylem and phloem sap under phosphorus stress has not been clearly revealed. In this study, gas chromatog.-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) combined with principal component anal. (PCA) and partial least squares discriminant anal. (PLS-DA) were used to analyze the metabolites in cucumber xylem and phloem sap under different phosphorus stress. A total of 22 differential metabolites were screened from xylem and phloem sap, resp. Through the anal. of metabolic pathways of differential metabolites, four and three key metabolic pathways were screened, resp. The results showed that compared with the normal phosphorus level, the content of most amino acids in the key metabolic pathway increased in xylem but decreased in phloem both under low and high phosphorus stress levels. The contents of sucrose and glucose in phloem glycolysis pathway showed a pos. correlation with the change of phosphorus nutrient levels. The tricarboxylic acid cycle was promoted in xylem and phloem of cucumber under low and high phosphorus nutrient levels, and the contents of malic acid and citric acid increased significantly. This study provided abundant biochem. information for the metabolic response and regulation strategies of cucumber xylem and phloem under phosphorus stress, and is committed to looking for more sensitive markers to evaluate the supply level of phosphorus nutrients in cucumber. Carbohydrate based radiotracers have been in routine use as a potential PET imaging agent for tumor targeting, worldwide. The aim of our study was to develop a cost effective and more accessible SPECT based tumor targeted mol. imaging probe. A 1-D-deoxyglucose conjugate was proposed and evaluated as a tumor imaging agent. DTPA-bis(DG) was synthesized by conjugating two mols. of glucose employing a click chem. approach. It involved a facile methodol., characterization and subsequent radiolabelling with 99mTc with high radiochem. purity and specific activity (187 ± 17 MBq μmol-1) followed by in vitro and in vivo evaluation to prove its potency as an imaging agent. In vitro cytotoxicity studies in the A549 and HEK cell lines showed no substantial toxicity. A cell uptake study revealed that the transportation of [99mTc]DTPA-bis(DG) was GLUT1 independent. In vivo blood kinetic studies in New Zealand rabbits showed fast clearance with a Td1/2 of 28.12 ± 0.63 min and Te1/2 = 101.25 ± 0.34. A significant tumor uptake of 3.88 ± 0.05% ID per g was observed in A549 tumor bearing mice at 4 h p.i. The tumor-to-muscle and tumor-to-blood ratios at 4 h p.i. were 20.46 ± 0.07 and 3.59 ± 0.03 resp. No significant persistence in any other organs was observed The tumor (A549) grafted in athymic mice was clearly distinguishable in the gamma-scintigraphy image. The results suggested that this [99mTc]glycoconjugate would be a promising candidate for cancer targeted imaging.
