A visible-light-induced modular methodol. for the synthesis of complex 3,3′-disubstituted oxindole derivatives, e.g. I, is reported. A library of valuable fluoroalkyl-containing highly sterically congested oxindole derivatives can be synthesized by a catalytic three-component radical coupling reaction under mild conditions (metal and photocatalyst free, >80 examples). This strategy shows high functional group tolerance and broad substrate compatibility. Substrates include a wide variety of terminal or non-terminal alkenes, conjugated dienes (e.g. prop-1-en-2-ylbenzene), and enynes RC(:CH2)CCR1 (R = Me, Ph, R1 = H, Ph, cyclopropyl, 3-chloropropyl), and a broad array of polyfluoroalkyl iodide and oxindoles II (R2 = 7-Cl, 5-Br, 4,6-F2, etc., R3 = Ph, 5-methylthiophen-2-yl, 6-methoxynaphthalen-1-yl, etc.), which enables modular modification of complex drug-like compounds in one chem. step. The success of solar-driven transformation, large-scale synthesis, and the late-stage functionalization of bioactive mols., as well as promising tumor-suppressing biol. activities, highlights the potential for practical applications of this strategy. Mechanistic investigations, including a series of control experiments, UV-vis spectroscopy and DFT calculations, suggest that the reaction underwent a sequential two-step radical-coupling process and the photosensitive perfluoroalkyl benzyl iodides are key intermediates in the transformation. To develop new metal-based glycoconjugates as potential anticancer agents, four organometallic Au(III)-dithiocarbamato glycoconjugates [Au(III)(2-Bnpy)(SSC-Inp-GlcN)](PF6) (2-Bnpy: 2-benzylpyridine; Inp: isonipecotic moiety; GlcN: amino-glucose scaffold; Au3-Au6) and the corresponding model nonglycosylated counterparts [Au(III)(2-Bnpy)(SSC-Inp-R)](PF6) (R: OEt (Au1), NH2 (Au2)) were generated and characterized by several anal. techniques (elemental anal., FTIR, 1H-/13C-NMR, ESI-MS, UV-visible, x-ray crystallog.). Their stability under physiol.-relevant conditions (PBS solution) and n-octanol/PBS distribution coefficient (D7.4) also were evaluated. Au(III) glycoconjugates showed an antiproliferative effect against ovarian carcinoma A2780 cells, with GI50 values in the low micromolar range. Remarkably, their cell growth inhibitory effect increases upon the addition of a glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1) inhibitor, thus ruling out the involvement of GLUT1 in their transport inside the cell. Addnl. mechanistic studies were carried out in A2780 cells, supporting the hypothesis of a facilitated diffusion mechanism (possibly mediated by glucose transporters other than GLUT1), and revealing their capability to act as topoisomerase I and II inhibitors and to disrupt mitochondrial membrane integrity, giving ROS, thus resulting in the promotion of oxidative stress and, eventually, cell death. Precipitate in B20 fuel stored in storage tanks can accumulate at the bottom level of the tank and affect the fuel filter, clogging in the fuel distribution and engine system. This study examines the precipitate formation prediction in B20 fuel based on the monoglyceride content in biodiesel. This research used a modified CSFT method of ASTM D7501 for the precipitation test. Monopalmitin was added to biodiesel with a variation of monoglyceride content. Each biodiesel sample was then blended with petroleum diesel fuel to produce two groups of samples. Each sample was sep. soaked in the cooling chamber at constant and room temperature for 21 days. The bottom layer of each B20 fuel sample stored in the measuring cylinder was then pipetted and filtered, washed with petro-ether, vacuum-dried, and weighed for a constant amount of precipitate retained on the filter. The simulation results show that the ratios between the amount of collected precipitate at the bottom layer of the 2-L measuring cylinder and the total amount of collected precipitate for the 2-L measuring cylinder increased with the monoglyceride content biodiesel. This ratio was used to predict the amount of accumulated sludge for a given volume of B20 fuel loaded into the storage tank. This study shows the effect of monoglyceride content on the precipitation behavior in the storage tank concerning general tank storage dimension parameters and B20 loading frequency. This approach can be applied to estimate the sludge removal frequency for biodiesel storage. Incorporation of urea-derived 13C into microbial communities in four different agriculture soils was written by Wang, Juan;Thornton, Barry;Yao, Huaiying. And the article was included in Biology and Fertility of Soils in 2014.Reference of 1731-94-8 The following contents are mentioned in the article:

The objective of this study was to investigate changes in the composition of the soil microbial community brought about by urea application and differences in the incorporation of urea-derived C into the soil phospholipid fatty acid (PLFA) pool at differing soil pH. We selected four soils which ranged in pH from 3.9 to 7.8. 13C-labeled urea was applied at two concentrations 100 and 200 mg N kg-1 which represents commonly used and high levels of application. Significant hydrolysis of applied urea occurred within 2 h; less than 2 % of urea-C was retained in the soil with one exception, the fluvo-aquic soil at pH 7.8 amended with 200 mg kg-1 urea-N 3 days after urea application. According to principal component anal. (PCA), the effect of urea and incubation time on microbial community composition was far weaker than differences between the four soils due to their large differences in basic properties; the scores of PC2 were significantly correlated with pH values. The incorporation of 13C-urea to PLFAs increased with soil pH; this may be related to increases in the speciation of inorganic C into bicarbonate.13C label was primarily incorporated into 16:1ω5c, 16:0, and cy19:0 in red soil, pH 3.9; and into 16:1ω7c, 16:0, and 16:1ω5c in fluvo-aquic soil, pH 7.8. A wider range of PLFAs became labeled in the two paddy soils at pH 5.2 and 6.7. This suggests that the profile of PLFAs labeled from the application of 13C-urea may be affected by redox potential. Carboxymethyl chitosan (CMCH) from native chitosan of high mol. weight (H, 310-375 kDa) was synthesized for improving water solubility The water solubility of high-mol.-weight carboxymethyl chitosan (H-CMCH) was higher than that of native chitosan by 89%. The application of H-CMCH as enhancing the moisturizer in mangosteen extract deodorant cream was evaluated. Different concentrations of H-CMCH (0.5-2.5%) were investigated in physicochem. characteristics of creams, including appearance, phase separation, pH, and viscosity, by an accelerated stability test. The different degrees of skin moisturizing (DM) on pig skin after applying H-CMCH solution, compared with untreated skin, water, and propylene glycol for 15 and 30 min using a Corneometer, were investigated. The results showed that the 0.5% H-CMCH provided the best DM after applying the solution on pig skin for 30 min. Trans-2-nonenal, as an unsatisfied odor component, was also evaluated against components of the mangosteen extract deodorant cream, which were compared to the standard, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). In addition, DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activity, ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP), and antibacterial activities were examined for the mangosteen extract deodorant cream using 0.5% H-CMCH. Results indicated that the mangosteen extract synergized with H-CMCH, which had a good potential as an effective skin moisturizing agent enhancer, deodorizing activity on trans-2-nonenal odor, antioxidant properties, and antibacterial properties. Sorafenib (SRB), a multikinase inhibitor, is effective in reducing exptl. corneal neovascularization (CNV) after oral administration; however, its therapeutic use in ocular surface disorders is restricted due to poor solubility and limited bioavailability. This study aimed to develop and optimize SRB-loaded nanostructured lipid carriers (SRB-NLCs) for topical ocular delivery by a central composite design response surface methodol. (CCD-RSM). It was spherical and uniform in morphol. with an average particle size of 111.87 ± 0.93 nm and a narrow size distribution. The in vitro drug release from the released SRB-NLC formulation was well fitted to Korsmeyer Peppas release kinetics. The cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) cell viability assay demonstrated that SRB-NLC was not obviously cytotoxic to human corneal epithelial cells (HCECs). An in vivo ocular irritation test showed that SRB-NLC was well tolerated by rabbit eyes. Ocular pharmacokinetics revealed 6.79-fold and 1.24-fold increase in the area under concentration-time curves (AUC0-12h) over 12 h in rabbit cornea and conjunctiva, resp., treated with one dose of SRB-NLC compared with those treated with SRB suspension. Moreover, SRB-NLC (0.05% SRB) and dexamethasone (0.025%) similarly suppressed corneal neovascularization in mice. In conclusion, the optimized SRB-NLC formulation demonstrated excellent physicochem. properties and good tolerance, sustained release, and enhanced ocular bioavailability. Biodiesel from water hyacinth has shown to have poor oxidative stability due to the presence of significant amounts of unsaturated fatty acids. Most studies have been using synthetic antioxidants to improve oxidation stability of biodiesel but they are expensive and proved to be toxic at higher concentrations This study assessed the possibility of using natural antioxidants extracted from clove wastes and babul tree barks since they are cheap, easy to extract and locally available and blends of these with synthetic antioxidant such as 1,2,3-trihydroxybenzene (Pyrogallol, PY) in improving the oxidation stability of biodiesel. Non-edible water hyacinth collected from Lake Victoria Tanzania was used as feedstock for biodiesel production The biodiesel was analyzed for physicochem. properties and fatty acid composition Most of the physicochem. properties were within the acceptable limits for ASTM D6751 and EN 14214 except for oxidation stability which recorded 2.4 h and was below limits. Fatty acid anal. showed the presence of unsaturated fatty acids at 42% which contributed to the poor oxidation stability of the biodiesel. Clove waste and babul barks displayed significant total phenolic contents of 220.0 ± 0.1 and 48.0 ± 0.2 mg GAE/g, resp. Clove antioxidant displayed an improvement of 153% in oxidation stability at 1000 ppm while babul improved by 236% at 800 ppm. The present investigations were aimed at formulating topical gel containing nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) of griseofulvin and assess its effectiveness on superficial infections. The drug solubility studies were executed using various lipids and surfactants like Glyceryl monostearate, Oleic acid, Pluronic F 68, and Tween 80, and the concentrations of lipids, surfactants, and emulsifier were optimized using Box-Behnken design (BBD). Microemulsions were made utilizing sonication. The prepared batches (F1 to F15) were analyzed and observed that the optimized batch (F12), containing 0.2% weight/weight drug, 2% GMS, 2% Pluronic F68 and Tween 80 (in the ratio of 1:1) showed a particle size of 209 nm, zeta potential of -44.12 mV, entrapment level of 85.24% along with a drug release of 92.12%. Carbopol 940, 1.5% was used to make the topical gel. The results of biochem. studies reflected that griseofulvin-loaded-nanogel produced a more significant decrease in lipid peroxidation as compared to the standard drug. The in-vitro cytotoxicity studies showed better safety of nanogel in human keratinocyte cells (HaCaT). The results of antifungal activity showed complete clin. and mycol. cure in a duration of 21 days against superficial infections like Tenia pedis and also ringworm in Wistar rats while using T.rubrum and M.canis fungal strains. These preclin. investigations have proved that the nanogels have a better potential in treating the aforementioned superficial infections providing an effective alternative for currently existing products. This study involved multiple reactions and reactants, such as Glyceryl monostearate (cas: 31566-31-1Safety of Glyceryl monostearate).

Glyceryl monostearate (cas: 31566-31-1) belongs to esters. Esters perform as high-grade solvents for a broad array of plastics, plasticizers, resins, and lacquers, and are one of the largest classes of synthetic lubricants on the commercial market. Polyesters are important plastics, with monomers linked by ester moieties. Liquid esters of low volatility serve as softening agents for resins and plastics. Esters also include many industrially important polymers.
