Methyl heptanoate (cas: 106-73-0) belongs to esters. Esters typically have a pleasant smell; those of low molecular weight are commonly used as fragrances and are found in essential oils and pheromones. Esters contain a carbonyl center, which gives rise to 120° C–C–O and O–C–O angles. Unlike amides, esters are structurally flexible functional groups because rotation about the C–O–C bonds has a low barrier. Their flexibility and low polarity is manifested in their physical properties; they tend to be less rigid (lower melting point) and more volatile (lower boiling point) than the corresponding amides. The impact of the growing environment on the aroma of agricultural products such as wine, coffee, or tea has been investigated in detail, leading to the concept of regional identity; however, there have been only limited studies examining regional variation in hops. A systematic investigation of Cascade and Mosaic hops from the 2020 harvest year grown at 39 different locations in Oregon and Washington was performed using chem./instrumental and human sensory analyses, which revealed significant between-state and within-state differences for both varieties, suggesting substantial regional and subregional identity effects. A subset of 14 hop samples was selected to produce standardized single-hop beers (IPA) in pilot scale. Sensory evaluation of the beers revealed similar regional-dependent results as observed for the hops with slightly stronger fruity, citrus, and tropical notes but weaker herbal, grassy, and woody notes in the beers compared to hops, suggesting that the regional identity effect was observable in beer. This study involved multiple reactions and reactants, such as Methyl heptanoate (cas: 106-73-0COA of Formula: C8H16O2).

Characterization of volatile and semi-volatile compounds in Chinese rice wines by headspace solid phase microextraction followed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was written by Luo, Tao;Fan, Wenlai;Xu, Yan. The volatile and semi-volatile compounds of Chinese rice wines were extracted by headspace solid phase microextraction (HS-SPME) and analyzed by gas chromatog.-mass spectrum (GC-MS). The original Chinese rice wine samples were diluted with deionized water to a final concentration of 6% (volume/volume) ethanol and then extracted by HS-SPME. The samples were pre-equilibrated at 50°C for 15 min and extracted with stirring at the same temperature for 45 min prior to injection into a GC-MS. A total of 97 volatile and semi-volatile compounds were identified from ten Chinese typical rice wine samples, including 13 alcs., 8 acids, 28 esters, 4 aldehydes and ketones, 17 aromatic compounds, 3 lactones, 6 phenols, 3 sulfides, 9 furans and 6 nitrogen-containing compounds, of which, 39 compounds were firstly reported in Chinese rice wine. Flavor components in tobacco capsules identified through non-targeted quantitative analysis was written by Lim, Hyun-Hee;Choi, Kyeong-Yun;Shin, Ho-Sang. And the article was included in Journal of Mass Spectrometry in 2022.Reference of 2198-61-0 The following contents are mentioned in the article:

Tobacco flavors increase the attractiveness of a tobacco brand and ultimately promote addiction. Information about what flavor and how much flavor is in flavor capsules can provide an effective way to regulate tobacco flavor. In this study, 128 flavor chems. were identified and quantified by gas chromatog.-mass spectrometry using libraries and authentic standards Validation of the developed method was performed for interference, detection limits, calibration curves, accuracy, and precision. Menthol was the main ingredient in all capsules, and the carcinogenic pulegone was detected. Detected menthofuran, benzyl alc., geraniol, and eugenol cause toxic or severe irritation, and detected lactones can increase nicotine addiction by inhibiting nicotine metabolism in smokers. Margin of exposures for carcinogenic pulegone and non-carcinogenic menthol were well below safety thresholds, indicating a significant risk of inhalation exposure. It is desirable to prohibit the use of flavor capsules in consideration of human risk. Flexible and thermal conducting multi-walled carbon nanotubes/waterborne polyurethane composite film from in situ polymerization for efficient electromagnetic interference shielding was written by Liu, Wei;Yao, Tingting;Jia, Kun;Gu, Jianyu;Wang, Donghong;Wei, Xuehong. And the article was included in Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Electronics in 2021.Application of 106-73-0 The following contents are mentioned in the article:

A flexible multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)/waterborne polyurethane (WPU) composite film was prepared via in situ polymerization followed by a facile blade coating process. An ultrahigh MWCNTs content of 48.1 wt% was obtained in this film, where MWCNTs without modification of acid or surfactant were uniformly dispersed in the WPU matrix. Therefore, the obtained film exhibited a high elec. conductivity of 16.67 S cm-1 and thermal conductivity of 5.31 W m-1 K-1. Moreover, an outstanding EMI SE of 65.3 dB at the frequency of 110 MHz was achieved with a film thickness of 80μm, which can screen 99.9999% of incident wave at such frequency. The EMI shielding performance of this film is comparable to those of other polymer-based shielding composites with larger thickness (0.5-2 mm) ever reported. Furthermore, excellent flexibility and durability of composite films were demonstrated by bending test, indicating that it is a promising candidate for thermal conduction and EMI shielding of portable and wearable devices. Maopu buckwheat finished Baijiu (MBFB), a unique Chinese Baijiu, is mainly composed of base Baijiu and tartary buckwheat extract (TBE). However, there is a lack of studies reporting its flavor. In this study, the key odorants in MBFB were characterized for the first time using a sensomics approach. Forty-nine odorants were identified using gas chromatog.-mass spectrometry/olfactory anal., coupled with aroma extraction dilution anal. They were quantified using multiple methods and their odor activity values were calculated Et hexanoate, Et butanoate, butanoic acid, hexanoic acid, di-Me trisulfide, p-cresol, β-damascenone, and 3-methylbutanal were confirmed as the key odorants in MBFB using recombination and omission experiments Furthermore, the interaction between TBE and odorants were revealed that TBE enhanced the sweet notes, while it inhibited the alc., acidic, and fruity notes, which might be because TBE promoted the volatility of most esters, but inhibited the volatilities of butanoic acid and hexanoic acid.
