A comparison study of extraction methods for bio-liquid via hydrothermal carbonization of food waste was written by Bang, YeJin;Choi, Minseon;Bae, Sunyoung. And the article was included in Analytical Science & Technology in 2018.Formula: C20H40O2 The following contents are mentioned in the article:

The hydrothermal carbonization method has received great attention because of the conversion process from biomass. The reaction produces various products in hydrochar, bio-liquid, and gas. Even though its yield cannot be ignored in amount, it is difficult to find research papers on bio-liquid generated from the hydrothermal carbonization reaction of biomass. In particular, the heterogeneity of feedstock composition may make the characterization of bio-liquid different and difficult. In this study, bio-liquid from the hydrothermal carbonization reaction of food wastes at 230 °C for 4 h was investigated. Among various products, fatty acid Me esters were analyzed using two different extraction methods: liquid-liquid extraction and column chromatog. Different elutions with various solvents enabled us to categorize the various components. The eluents and fractions obtained from two different extraction methods were analyzed by gas chromatog. with a mass spectrometer (GC/MS). The composition of the bio-liquid in each fraction was characterized, and seven fatty acid Me esters were identified using the library installed in GC/MS device. This study involved multiple reactions and reactants, such as Methyl nonadecanoate (cas: 1731-94-8Formula: C20H40O2).

Rearrangement of ferrocenylmethoxypyrroles 3-(FcCH2O)-2-SR2-1-R1C4H2N afforded ferrocenylmethyl 3(2H)-pyrrolones 1-R1-2-SR2-2-CH2Fc-3-O-C4H2N as a result of formal C[1,3]-shift. The lithiation of (ferrocenylmethoxy)allene followed by sequential reaction with isothiocyanate and S-alkylation of the adduct gives the corresponding alkyl buta-2,3-dienimidothioate (1-aza-1,3,4-triene), which in the presence of CuI or CuBr cyclizes into (ferrocenylmethoxy)/sulfanyl-substituted pyrrole ring. The process is carried out in one or two preparative steps depending on an alkylating agent. A novel unexpected rearrangement of the synthesized 3-(ferrocenylmethoxy)-2-sulfanyl-1H-pyrroles into 2-(ferrocenylmethyl)-2-sulfanyl-1,2-dihydro-3H-pyrrol-3-ones, proceeding in CDCl3 at room temperature or in toluene under heating, is discovered. Polysarcosine (pSar) is a polypeptoid based on the endogenous amino acid sarcosine (N-methylated glycine), which has previously shown potent stealth properties. Here, lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) for therapeutic application of mRNA were assembled using pSarcosinylated lipids as a tool for particle engineering. Using pSar lipids with different polymeric chain lengths and molar fractions enabled the control of the physicochem. characteristics of the LNPs, such as particle size, morphol., and internal structure. In combination with a suited ionizable lipid, LNPs were assembled, which displayed high RNA transfection potency with an improved safety profile after i.v. injection. Notably, a higher protein secretion with a reduced immunostimulatory response was observed when compared to systems based on polyethylene glycol (PEG) lipids. PSarcosinylated nanocarriers showed a lower proinflammatory cytokine secretion and reduced complement activation compared to PEGylated LNPs. In summary, the described pSar-based LNPs enable safe and potent delivery of mRNA, thus signifying an excellent basis for the development of PEG-free RNA therapeutics. Robust optical oxygen sensors based on polymer-bound NIR-emitting platinum(II)-benzoporphyrins was written by Hutter, L. H.;Muller, B. J.;Koren, K.;Borisov, S. M.;Klimant, I.. And the article was included in Journal of Materials Chemistry in 2014.Category: esters-buliding-blocks The following contents are mentioned in the article:

Several advanced optical oxygen sensor materials are presented. They are based on bright NIR-emitting platinum(II)-benzoporphyrins covalently incorporated into a variety of polymeric matrixes. The dye-polymer conjugates are prepared either via Suzuki coupling of the brominated porphyrins to the styrene backbone or via co-polymerization of the monomers with monostyryl porphyrin derivative Importantly, in both strategies a highly stable C-C bond is obtained. The resulted materials benefit from excellent photophys. properties of the benzoporphyrin dyes (high brightness, emission in the NIR part of the spectrum) and high stability of the covalently grafted materials due to complete suppression of dye migration and leaching. This is particularly important for operation of the sensors in harsh conditions e.g. during steam sterilization where the materials based on noncovalently grafted dyes showed significant drift of their calibration. Addnl., the authors present a new synthetic method for preparation of anal. pure benzoporphyrins via simple 1-step template condensation which a promising alternative to the commonly used Lindsey method. In the present study, scale-up of preparation of Asenapine maleate (ASPM) loaded Nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) to medium as well as the large scale was performed with the aid of Quality-by-Design (QbD) approach. High-pressure homogenization (HPH) was used to scale up the ASPM loaded NLCs to medium (40 mL) and large-scale (300 mL) batches. The statistical exptl. design was employed to optimize the HPH parameters and the results of the design showed that the size of ASPM loaded NLCs decreased with the increase in pressure and number of cycles of HPH. Also, increasing the number of cycles resulted in a slight increase in the %drug entrapped. FTIR and DSC were used to assess the compatibility between drug and excipients. The shape and surface morphol. of NLCs studied by Transmission Electron Microscope revealed a spherical shape with an approx. size of less than 100 nm. The cytotoxicity of NLCs using MTT assay in Caco2 cells demonstrated the safety of ASPM-NLCs. Further, in vivo pharmacokinetics and efficacy studies strengthened the applicability of ASPM-NLCs produced at a large scale for further in vivo and clin. environments. Pd/NbOPO4 multifunctional catalyst was prepared and used for catalytic hydrotreatment upgrading of bio-oil, which was obtained from low-temperature torrefaction (LTT) of pubescens and contained mainly lignin oligomers. The upgrading temperatures were investigated at 220-280 °C. Pd/NbOPO4 exhibited good performance for the effective depolymerization of oligomers with increasing temperature It was revealed that both Bronsted acid sites and Lewis acid sites existed on NbOx, which contributed to the cleavage of the C-O-C bond. Furthermore, esterification, hydrogenation, and O-alkylation of monomeric derivatives also occurred simultaneously during the depolymerization process. After hydrotreatment upgrading, the average mol. weight of bio-oil decreased from Mw = 320 Da (Mn = 298 Da) to Mw = 273 Da (Mn = 254 Da) and the bio-oil quality was improved dramatically. The oxygen content decreased from 29.53 to 9.78 wt %. The upgraded bio-oil obtained at 280 °C had a heating value of 40.48 MJ kg-1, which was much higher than that of the original bio-oil (26.96 MJ kg-1). Cellular damage is a key issue in the context of cryopreservation. Much of this damage is believed to be caused by extracellular ice formation at temperatures well above the homogeneous f.p. of pure water. Hence the question: what initiates ice nucleation during cryopreservation In this paper, we assess whether cellular membranes could be responsible for facilitating the ice nucleation process, and what characteristics would make them good or bad ice nucleating agents. By means of mol. dynamics simulations, we investigate a number of phospholipids and lipopolysaccharide bilayers at the interface with supercooled liquid water. While these systems certainly appear to act as ice nucleating agents, it is likely that other impurities might also play a role in initiating extracellular ice nucleation. Furthermore, we elucidate the factors which affect a bilayers ability to act as an ice nucleating agent; these are complex, with specific reference to both chem. and structural factors. These findings represent a first attempt to pinpoint the origin of extracellular ice nucleation, with important implications for the cryopreservation process. A chromatog. method was developed for the identification of volatile markers from Magnum hops in two types of beer. The study was initially performed with Magnum hop pellets and hop essential oil and subsequently with traditional and flavored beer during the primary fermentation The volatile compounds were isolated employing the in-tube extraction (ITEX) technique followed by identification and quantification through gas-chromatog.-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) operating in scan mode. The main authentication markers identified in traditional beer were from aromatic compounds, aldehydes and alc. esters. The most predominant authentication marker compounds in beer flavored with Magnum hop essential oil were obtained from terpenoids, followed by acid esters, alc. esters and alc. classes. A unique feature of this study was represented by the discriminant markers for the authentication of Magnum hop variety, identified in hop pellets, hop essential oil and flavored beer. The application of this methodol. can be used for optimization of brewing technol. and process parameters in view of prolonging fruity hop flavor stability of Romanian beers.
