Matic, Tamara published the artcileSr,Mg co-doping of calcium hydroxyapatite: Hydrothermal synthesis, processing, characterization and possible application as dentin substitutes, Product Details of C11H15NO2, the publication is Ceramics International (2022), 48(8), 11155-11165, database is CAplus.

The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of binary Sr, Mg ion-doping compared to the single-ion doping effects on the phase composition and morphol. of hydrothermally obtained calcium hydroxyapatite (HAP) powders and on the phase composition, microstructure, and mech. properties of the sintered materials. Addnl., the focus of this study was to investigate the possible utilization of the binary doped Sr,Mg-HAP compacts as dentin substitutes in restorative dentistry by evaluating their bonding ability with com. available restorative materials using the shear bond strength test (SBS). The hydrothermally obtained mono-doped Mg5 and Sr5 showed the monophasic apatite structure, while in all co-doped samples β-TCP phase was formed, resulting in biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) powders. It was confirmed that co-doping with Sr and Mg ions led to the thermal stabilization of the β-TCP phase by suppressing the phase transition into α-TCP when sintered at 1200 βC. Moreover, the co-presence of Mg ions significantly improved the hardness of Sr-doped HAP from 3.74 to 5.02 GPa. Sr,Mg-HAP dental inserts were found to achieve sufficient bonding (13.53 MPa) through the micromech. interlocking with Z250 dental composite and Single Bond Universal dental adhesive applied with a total etch approach. The SBS values obtained for the SrMg-HAP insert were similar to the literature data on bonding ability with human dentin, indicating that binary doped Sr,Mg-HAP ceramics present a promising material for application in restorative dentistry as dentin substitutes.

PEL is a rare B cell lymphoma associated with KSHV that mainly arises in immune-deficient individuals. The search for new drugs to treat this cancer is still ongoing given its aggressiveness and the poor response to chemotherapies. In this study, we found that DMF, a drug known for its anti-inflammatory properties which is registered for the treatment of psoriasis and relapsing-remitting MS, could be a promising therapeutic strategy against PEL. Indeed, although some mechanisms of resistance were induced, DMF activated NRF2, reduced ROS and inhibited the phosphorylation of STAT3 and the release of the pro-inflammatory and immune suppressive cytokines IL-6 and IL-10, which are known to sustain PEL survival. Interestingly, we observed that DMF displayed a stronger cytotoxic effect against fresh PEL cells in comparison to PEL cell lines, due to the activation of ERK1/2 and autophagy in the latter cells. This finding further encourages the possibility of using DMF for the treatment of PEL.

A Pd-Co bimetallic alloy encapsulated in melamine-based dendrimer supported on magnetic nanoparticles denoted as γ-Fe2O3@MBD/Pd-Co was synthesized by a facile co-complexation-reduction method and characterized sufficiently. The catalytic evaluation of γ-Fe2O3@MBD/Pd-Co showed promising results in the Mizoroki-Heck and Buchwald-Hartwig amination reactions of various iodo-, bromo- and challenging chloroarenes in aqueous media. The synergetic cooperative effect of both Pd and Co and dispersion of the catalyst in water due to the encapsulation of γ-Fe2O3 by melamine-based dendrimer lead to high catalytic performance compared with the monometallic counterparts. The dispersion of the magnetic catalyst also facilitates the recovery and reuse of the catalyst by ten consecutive extraction and final magnetic isolation with no loss of catalytic activity, keeping its structure unaltered.

Due to the growing consumption and depletion of fossil resources, researchers are forced to find alternative bio-based resources to produce fine chems. Itaconic acid esters represent an exciting group of substances that could be potentially used in several areas of the chem. industry, such as a replacement of widely used acrylates in the dye industry. Basic properties, such as d., viscosity, and saturated vapor pressure, are crucial for producing these compounds, same as process simulations. Several properties of various itaconates with com. use were studied in this paper. The presented data were exptl. determined and compared to the previously published data. The data were subsequently fitted by a relevant model for each property in Aspen Plus simulation software, and the conformity between the exptl. and calculated data was determined by values of average absolute deviation. The basic knowledge about these phys.-chem. properties will be helpful in future process simulations and development in esters production

Elaeagnus umbellata Thunb. (autumn olive) is a high valued medicinal plant. It belongs to Elaeagnaceae family and is widely distributed in Himalayan regions of Pakistan. In the present study essential oil were extracted from the fruit of this plant and their antioxidant, anticholinesterase and antidiabetic potentials were also evaluated. Essential oils were extracted from the fruit of E. umbellata using hydro-distillation method and were characterized by GC-MS. The extracted oil were tested for its antioxidant, anticholinesterase, and antidiabetic potentials using standard protocols. About 68 compounds were identified by GC-MS. The extracted oil exhibited a fairly high free radical scavenging activities against DPPH and ABTS radicals with IC50 values of 70 and 105 μg/mL resp. (for ascorbic acid, used as standard, the IC50 values were 32 and 29 μg/mL, resp. against the mentioned radicals). The essential oil also exhibited anticholinesterase activities with IC50 values of 48 and 90 μg/mL resp. against AChE and BChE (for galantamine used as standard, the IC50 values were 25 and 30 μg/mL resp.). The essential oil also exhibited antidiabetic potential with IC50 values of 120 and 110 μg/mL resp. against α-glucosidase and α-amylase (IC50 values for standard acarbose = 28 and 30 μg/mL resp.). Conclusion: Essential oil extracted from the fruits of E. umbellata exhibited reasonable antioxidant, anticholinesterase, and antidiabetic potentials that could be used as alternative medicine in treating diabetes and neurodegenerative disorders. However, further studies are needed to isolate responsible compounds and evaluate the observed potential in animal models.

Isocratic elution characteristics of benzoates and naphthoates of C5-C20 terpenoid alcohols, Application of 3-Methylbut-2-en-1-yl benzoate, the publication is Journal of Chromatography (1984), 121-32, database is CAplus and MEDLINE.

Conditions for derivatization of C5-C20 isoprenoid alcs. and the reversed-phase liquid chromatog. properties of the corresponding benzoate and naphthoate esters are described. A non-linear response of log k‘ to changes in the composition of the mobile phase was observed on a Radial-Pak C18 column. In general, the capacity factors (k‘) increased with increases in C content and degree of saturation in the hydrocarbon chain, and decreased with increases in branching and Z double bond content. Replacement of a single H in the Me group at C-3 of geranyl benzoate with F had little effect on k‘, while the difluoro- and trifluoromethyl derivatives showed regular increases in k‘. The large extinction coefficients of the aromatic ester moieties, especially the 2-naphthoates, provide high sensitivity of UV detection.

Samples were dissolved in MeCN, and 5-25 μL portions were injected. In general, the capacity factors increased with increases in the number of double bonds, branching, and Z double bond content. The large absorptivities of the aromatic ester moieties provide high sensitivity for UV detection.
