Biochar reduces volatile organic compounds generated during chicken manure composting was written by Sanchez-Monedero, M. A.;Sanchez-Garcia, M.;Alburquerque, J. A.;Cayuela, M. L.. And the article was included in Bioresource Technology in 2019.Formula: C6H12O2 This article mentions the following:

The efficiency of biochar for reducing the levels of volatile organic compounds (VOC) was investigated in a composting mixture containing 90% poultry manure and 10% straw (with and without 3% biochar addition) at three different stages of the process. The use of a low application rate of biochar reduced the concentration of VOC during the thermophilic phase. Biochar significantly reduced the levels of nitrogen volatile compounds, which are the most abundant VOC family, originated from microbial transformation of the N-compounds originally present in manure. The most efficient VOC reduction was observed in oxygenated volatile compounds (ketones, phenols and organic acids), which are intermediates of organic matter degradation, whereas there was no effect on other VOC families (aliphatic, aromatic and terpenes). These results suggest the importance of not only the sorption capacity of biochar but also its impact in the composting progress as main drivers for VOC reduction In the experiment, the researchers used many compounds, for example, Methyl2-methylbutyrate (cas: 868-57-5Formula: C6H12O2).

Volatile flavor of edible oils is an important quality index and factor affecting consumer choice. The purpose of this investigation was to characterize virgin Camellia oleifera seed oil (VCO) samples from different locations in southern China in terms of their volatile compounds to show the classification of VCO with respect to geog. Different samples from 20 producing VCO regions were collected in 2020 growing season, at almost the same maturity stage, and processed under the same conditions. Headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) with a gas chromatog.-mass spectrometer system (GC-MS) was used to analyze volatile compounds A total of 348 volatiles were characterized, including aldehydes, ketones, alcs., acids, esters, alkenes, alkanes, furans, phenols, and benzene; the relative contents ranged from 7.80-58.68%, 1.73-12.52%, 2.91-37.07%, 2.73-46.50%, 0.99-12.01%, 0.40-14.95%, 0.00-27.23%, 0.00-3.75%, 0.00-7.34%, and 0.00-1.55%, resp. The VCO geog. origins with the largest number of volatile compounds was Xixiangtang of Guangxi (L17), and the least was Beireng of Hainan (L19). A total of 23 common and 98 unique volatile compounds were detected that reflected the basic and characteristic flavor of VCO, resp. After PCA, heatmap and PLS-DA anal., Longchuan of Guangdong (L8), Qingshanhu of Jiangxi (L16), and Panlong of Yunnan (L20) were in one group where the annual average temperatures are relatively low, where annual rainfalls are also low. Guangning of Guangdong (L6), Yunan of Guangdong (L7), Xingning of Guangdong (L9), Tianhe of Guangdong (L10), Xuwen of Guangdong (L11), and Xiuying of Hainan (L18) were in another group where the annual average temperatures are relatively high, and the altitudes are low. Blending with elastomers is a commonly used method to improve the toughness of poly(lactic acid) (PLA). However, the poor compatibility between polar PLA and the nonpolar elastomer results in a limited improvement of the toughness. In this work, we report a simple but effective strategy to improve the compatibility between PLA and natural rubber (NR) and manufacture super-tough PLA-based thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV). We choose the widely used reinforcing filler SiO2 nanoparticles as the compatibilizer, whose modification using 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate (KH570) is synchronized with the dynamic vulcanization. Simultaneously, the modified SiO2 nanoparticles migrate from the NR phase to the PLA/NR interface due to the interfacial tension. The modified SiO2 nanoparticles located at the interface entangle with the NR chains on the one hand and graft with the PLA chain on the other hand, acting as a “bridge” to improve the interfacial compatibility of the two phases. While only adding a small amount of filler, 20 phr SiO2 nanoparticles in NR and 7 phr modifier in SiO2, the impact strength of the PLA/NR (80/20) TPV increases to 95.96 kJ/m2 (without fracture), which is 38-fold than pure PLA. Even in a low temperature of -30°C, the impact strength is still 7.93 kJ/m2. Finally, the co-continuous structure and the excellent toughness with a small amount of toughener make the TPV have great potential for application in the 3D printing field (processing speed of 110 m/min, over 100 times bend after immersion in hot water). In the experiment, the researchers used many compounds, for example, 2,2-Bis(((3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propanoyl)oxy)methyl)propane-1,3-diyl bis(3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propanoate) (cas: 6683-19-8Computed Properties of C73H108O12).

Analysis of volatile odor compounds and aroma properties of European vinegar by the ultra-fast gas chromatographic electronic nose was written by Liu, Ruo-Chen;Li, Rong;Wang, Ying;Jiang, Zi-Tao. And the article was included in Journal of Food Composition and Analysis in 2022.Electric Literature of C6H12O2 This article mentions the following:

Vinegar is a very popular condiment with different species and aroma profiles. Eighty-three volatile odor compounds (VOCs) were identified from European vinegar using ultra-fast gas chromatog. electronic nose (UFGC E-nose), of which there were 61 VOCs with odor activity value (OAV) ≥ 1. Among the 61 VOCs, acetic acid, Et isovalerate, propionaldehyde, butanoic acid, Et cinnamate, and guaiacol contributed significantly to the aroma property and type of European vinegar. There were obvious clustering trends of apple vinegar, wine vinegar, and balsamic vinegar in principal component anal. (PCA). The clustering of the vinegar-like groups was more obvious in orthogonal partial least squares discriminant anal. (OPLS-DA). The volatile markers discriminating vinegar, including acetic acid, propionic acid, pyrazine, furfural, iso-Pr alc., and so on, were screened out by variable importance for the projection (VIP). Inhibition of protein degradation is one of strategies for suppression of uncontrolled proliferation of cancer cells. Proteolytic degradation in cells is mainly ensured by proteasome and its inhibition by bortezomib showed benefit in clin. use for the treatment of multiple myeloma. We report here the library of antiproteasomal O-benzyl salicylamides built from leucine and phenylalanine. Prepared compounds displayed antiproliferative activity on K562, CEM and U266 cancer cell lines, ranging from high micromolar to submicromolar GI50 values. The most potent compounds were further assayed for their inhibition of chymotrypsin-like protease activity of the 26S proteasome in U266 cells. The majority of compounds inhibited the proteasome in mid-nanomolar concentrations (IC50 ranging from 57 to 197 nM) and it correlated with cellular potency. In a cell based assay involving green fluorescence protein (GFP) fused to a short degron that is rapidly degraded by a proteasome the compounds induced accumulation of GFP, visualised and quantified by live-cell imaging. Levels of polyubiquitinated proteins in U266 cells treated by compound I were also analyzed by immunoblotting, revealing a typical high mol. mass smear of ubiquitin conjugates. Finally, apoptotic cell death in treated U266 cells was detected biochem. by measuring the activity of caspases 3 and 7 in lysates and by immunoblotting of caspase 7, its substrate poly(ADP-ribose)polymerase, and Mcl-1, which all together showed changes typical for apoptosis. All these observations were in agreement with expected cellular mechanism of action and confirmed proteasome targeting by prepared O-benzyl salicylamides. To investigate tissue distribution, spatial difference, temperature variation, and potential health risks of PAEs in vegetables, celery was used as a model plant. Celery samples were collected from open fields and greenhouses from two provinces in China over four seasons. Celery tissues were analyzed for 16 PAE compounds by gas chromatog.-tandem mass spectrometry. The total content of PAEs was 89.0-1130.3μg kg-1 dry weight (dw) in stems and 155.0-2730.8μg kg-1 dw in leaves. Concentrations of PAEs in celeries showed notable spatial differences (P < 0.05), and the levels in samples from open fields were lower than those in samples from plastic greenhouses. In celeries from greenhouses, higher PAE concentrations were observed for plants grown at high temperatures than in plants grown at low temperatures Discrepancies in tissue distribution indicated different uptake pathways of PAE contaminants. Risk assessments to humans found that both carcinogenic risks and non-carcinogenic risks of PAEs via celery consumption were at an acceptable level. Further research should consider other exposure pathways of PAEs and pay special attention to reducing PAE contents in vegetables.
