Glucose-Based Fluorinated Surfactants as Additives for the Crystallization of Membrane Proteins: Synthesis and Preliminary Physical-Chemical and Biochemical Characterization was written by Wehbie, Moheddine;Bouchemal, Ilham;Deletraz, Anais;Pebay-Peyroula, Eva;Breyton, Cecile;Ebel, Christine;Durand, Gregory. We report herein the synthesis of a series of fluorinated surfactants with a glucose moiety as a polar head group and whose alkyl chain was varied in length and in fluorine/hydrogen ratio. They were synthesized in two or four steps in 20 to 50% overall yields allowing gram-scale synthesis. Their solubility in water is between 0.2 and 13.8 g/L, which indicates low water solubility Two derivatives of the series were found to form micelles in water at ∼11 mM. Their hydrophilic-lipophilic balance was determined both by Griffin′s and Davies′ methods; they may exhibit a “harsh” character toward membrane proteins. This, combined with their low water solubility, suggest that they could advantageously be used in detergent mixtures containing a “mild” detergent. Finally, the potency of one of the derivatives, F3H5-β-Glu, to act as an additive for the crystallization of AcrB was evaluated in detergent mixtures with n-dodecyl-β-D-maltopyranoside (DDM). Among the six crystallization conditions investigated, adding F3H5-β-Glu improved the crystallization for three of them, as compared to control drops without additives. Moreover, preliminary tests with other compounds of the series showed that none of them hampered crystallization and suggested improvement for three of them. These novel glucose-based fluorinated detergents should be regarded as potential additives that could be included in screening kits used in crystallization This study involved multiple reactions and reactants, such as (2S,3R,4S,5R,6R)-6-(Acetoxymethyl)tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2,3,4,5-tetrayl tetraacetate (cas: 604-69-3Quality Control of (2S,3R,4S,5R,6R)-6-(Acetoxymethyl)tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2,3,4,5-tetrayl tetraacetate).

Two edible coating (EC) emulsions based on potato starch (F6 and F10) alone or formulated with sodium benzoate (SB, 2% weight/weight) (F6/SB and F10/SB) were evaluated to maintain postharvest quality of cold-stored ‘Fino’ lemons and control sour rot on lemons artificially inoculated with Geotrichum citri-aurantii. Previous research showed the potential of these ECs to improve the storability of ‘Orri’ mandarins and reduce citrus green and blue molds caused by Penicillum digitatum and Penicillium italicum, resp. The coatings F6/SB and F10/SB significantly reduced sour rot incidence and severity compared to uncoated control samples on lemons incubated at 28°C for 4 and 7 days. The F6/SB coating reduced weight loss and gas exchange compared to uncoated fruit after 2 and 4 wk of storage at 12°C plus a shelf life of 1 wk at 20°C, without adversely affecting the lemon physicochem. quality. Overall, the F6/SB coating formulation, composed of pregelatinized potato starch, glyceryl monostearate, glycerol, emulsifiers and SB, with a total solid content of 5.5%, showed the best results in reducing citrus sour rot and maintaining the postharvest quality of cold-stored ‘Fino’ lemons. Therefore, it showed potential as a new cost-effective postharvest treatment suitable to be included in integrated disease management programs for citrus international markets with zero tolerance to chem. residues. 2021 Society of Chem. A novel high-throughput screen for identifying lipids that stabilise membrane proteins in detergent based solution was written by Cecchetti, Cristina;Strauss, Jannik;Stohrer, Claudia;Naylor, Claire;Pryor, Edward;Hobbs, Jeanette;Tanley, Simon;Goldman, Adrian;Byrne, Bernadette. Membrane proteins have a range of crucial biol. functions and are the target of about 60% of all prescribed drugs. For most studies, they need to be extracted out of the lipid-bilayer, e.g. by detergent solubilisation, leading to the loss of native lipids, which may disturb important protein-lipid/bilayer interactions and thus functional and structural integrity. Relipidation of membrane proteins has proven extremely successful for studying challenging targets, but the identification of suitable lipids can be expensive and laborious. Therefore, we developed a screen to aid the high-throughput identification of beneficial lipids. The screen covers a large lipid space and was designed to be suitable for a range of stability assessment methods. Here, we demonstrate its use as a tool for identifying stabilizing lipids for three membrane proteins: a bacterial pyrophosphatase (Tm-PPase), a fungal purine transporter (UapA) and a human GPCR (A2AR). A2AR is stabilized by cholesteryl hemisuccinate, a lipid well known to stabilize GPCRs, validating the approach. Addnl., our screen also identified a range of new lipids which stabilized our test proteins, providing a starting point for further investigation and demonstrating its value as a novel tool for membrane protein research. The pre-dispensed screen will be made com. available to the scientific community in future and has a number of potential applications in the field. The main objective of the present investigation was to design, prepare and evaluate moisturizing cream using sunflower wax. In the present work 32 full factorial design was applied to study the effect of varying concentration of independent variables stearic acid (X1) and sunflower wax (X2) on dependent variables viscosity and spreadability. All of the prepared formulations of moisturizing cream were evaluated for its physicochem. parameters. Further, the optimized formulation and selected com. moisturizer compared and evaluated for its physicochem. parameters like pH, particle size, spreadability, viscosity and in vitro occlusivity test. Nine different formulations of the moisturizing cream were prepared and all the findings obtained were within the prescribed limit. When compared to the prototype formulation of cream, the formulation MF5 showed good viscosity, in vitro occlusivity and spreadability. From the nine different formulations, MF5 containing 2% stearic acid and 2% sunflower was chosen as the optimized formula. Optimization was done on the basis of in vitro occlusivity studies and physicochem. parameters. The results obtained in this research work clearly showed a promising potential of moisturizing cream containing a specific ratio of stearic acid and sunflower wax as emulsifiers. Thus it can be concluded that sunflower wax is incorporated in the moisturizing cream, to avail of its cosmetic benefits. Dysfunction or progressive degeneration of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) contributes in the initial pathogenesis of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) causing irreversible vision loss, which makes RPE the prime target of the disease. The present study aimed to identify compounds to protect 4-hydroxynonenal (4-HNE)-induced RPE cell death by inhibiting NADPH oxidase 4 (NOX4) activity, not just as free radical scavengers, using ARPE-19, a human adult retinal pigment epithelial cell line, as a RPE representative. Novel thirty-two 6-ureido/thioureido-2,4,5-trimethylpyridin-3-ol derivatives were synthesized and tested. The authors found that there was a strong correlation between level of protective effect of novel compounds against 4-HNE-induced APRE-19 cell death and that of inhibitory activity against 4-HNE-induced superoxide production, and that most of the novel compounds showed minimal DPPH radical scavenging activity. Compound 17-28 (1-butyl-3-(5-hydroxy-3,4,6-trimethylpyridin-2-yl)thiourea) showed the best protective activity against 4-HNE-induced superoxide production (79.5% inhibition) and cell death (85.1% recovery) at 10 μM concentration, which was better than that of VAS2870, a NOX2/4 inhibitor. In addition, compound 17-28 blocked 4-HNE-induced apoptosis of ARPE-19 cells in a concentration-dependent manner. The results indicate that compound 17-28 may be a lead compound to develop AMD therapeutics. Molecular thermodynamic modeling of surface tensions of some fatty acid esters and biodiesels was written by Hosseini, Sayed Mostafa;Pierantozzi, Mariano. And the article was included in Journal of Molecular Liquids in 2019.Recommanded Product: Methyl heptanoate The following contents are mentioned in the article:

This work addresses the mol. thermodn. and artificial neural network (ANN) modeling of surface tensions of several fatty acid esters and biodiesels. Two biodiesels were considered as pure fluid and the other as a binary mixture The mol. thermodn. model is based on the statistical mech. expression according to Fowler-Kirkwood-Buff approximation Regarding this, contributions to surface tension from the hard-chain repulsions, Lennard-Jones dispersion forces, and dipolar interactions were considered and assumed to be additive in the model development. The mol. thermodn. model used three mol. parameters reflecting the hard-core diameter, dispersive energy and segment number as well as the liquid densities for which the values were predicted from perturbed Yukawa-chain equation of state. Further, the model used dipole moment as an adjustable parameter for the accurate calculation of surface tensions. The model could predict 149 surface tension data points for 9 FAEs and 3 biodiesels in 268.6-393 K range with the average absolute relative deviation (AARD) of 1.82%. The degree of accuracy of proposed model has also been compared with some empirical equations. Concerning ANN modeling, a network comprising two hidden layers and 9 neurons for each layer has been trained, according to the constructive approach. The result of the training was quite good, the AARD of the pure fluid dataset of 137 points was found to be 0.44%. In modern therapy, cutting side effects caused by the administration of drugs is one of the core challenges. One possible strategy is the delivery of a drug to the disease site by encapsulation into a polymeric matrix. Especially, light-responsive polymers are regarded as promising materials due to, e.g., the capability of tailored on-demand release in illuminated areas. In this work, a series of light-responsive backbone-degradable (co-)polymers were synthesized by polycondensation and polyaddition All obtained polymers showed rapid degradation in solution upon exposure to UV light as observed by size-exclusion chromatog. (SEC) and UV-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy. Light-induced decomposition of films prepared from the polycarbonate was confirmed by UV-vis, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), and profilometry measurements. Depending on the incorporated comonomers, the functional co-polyurethanes exhibited either enhanced hydrophilicity or dual-responsiveness to light and redox environments, which was detected by SEC after treatment with a reducing agent. The formulation of nanoparticles from light-responsive polyurethanes proved the processability of the synthesized polymers, and dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurements confirmed the photo-induced degradation of the prepared particles. Cottonseed oil is recognized as an important oil in food industry for its unique characters: low flavor reversion and the high level of antioxidants (Vitamin) as well as unsaturated fatty acid. However, the cottonseed oil content of cultivated cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) is only around 20%. In this study, we modified the accumulation of oils by the down-regulation of phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase 1 (GhPEPC1) via RNA interference in transgenic cotton plants. The qRT-PCR and enzyme activity assay revealed that the transcription and expression of GhPEPC1 was dramatically down-regulated in transgenic lines. Consequently, the cottonseed oil content in several transgenic lines showed a significant (P < 0.01) increase (up to 16.7%) without obvious phenotypic changes under filed condition when compared to the control plants. In order to elucidate the mol. mechanism of GhPEPC1 in the regulation of seed oil content, we quantified the expression of the carbon metabolism related genes of transgenic GhPEPC1 RNAi lines by transcriptome anal. This anal. revealed the decrease of GhPEPC1 expression led to the increase expression of triacylglycerol biosynthesis-related genes, which eventually contributed to the lipid biosynthesis in cotton. This result provides a valuable information for cottonseed oil biosynthesis pathway and shows the potential of creating high cottonseed oil germplasm by RNAi strategy for cotton breeding. Me Ph carbonate (MPC) is one of the versatile carbonates; in particular, it is an important component in lithium-ion batteries. In recent years, the catalytic synthesis of MPC has become an important topic, but the development of highly active catalysts is still challenging. In this study, SBA-15-loaded nano-sized Pb-Bi catalysts with different Pb/Bi molar ratios were prepared by deposition-precipitation to improve the efficiency and selectivity. To investigate the relationship between the structure and performance of the catalysts, XRD, BET, SEM-EDS, HRTEM, H2-TPR, and XPS characterization, as well as catalytic activity and stability tests, were conducted. Results revealed that Pb-Bi/SBA-15 can efficiently catalyze the synthesis of MPC under solvent-free conditions, with the highest catalytic activity obtained over 6 Pb-1Bi/SBA-15. SBA-15 with a large pore size and a high sp. surface area was suitable as catalyst carrier, and the average diameter of Pb-Bi oxide particles was ∼3.57 nm. The addition of Bi led to the improved dispersion of active components, which were highly and evenly dispersed on the SBA-15 surface. Furthermore, an appropriate proportion of Pb and Bi on SBA-15 was conducive to the considerable enhancement of the catalytic activity. Besides, Pb-Bi/SBA-15 also exhibited good durability and recyclability, making it a promising catalytic material for the synthesis of various carbonates. The microfiltration (0.2μm) of the GOBs had a variation on the feed temperature (20, 30, 40, 50°C) and were compared to the conventional heat treatment LTLT (63°C/30 min). Microbiol. (aerobic mesophilic bacteria, mold and yeast and lactic bacteria), physicochem. (pH, color, rheol. and volatile compounds) bioactive compounds (acid ascorbic, total phenolics) and functional activity (DPPH, ACE, α-amilase and α-glucosidase) anal. were performed. The GOB processed by microfiltration using at least 30°C presented adequate microbial counts (less than 4, 3 and 4 log CFU/mL, for AMB, molds and yeasts and LAB, resp.). In general, the pH, color parameters, volatile and bioactive compounds were not influenced by microfiltration temperature, but presented a difference from the LTLT processing. The rheol. parameters were influenced by MF temperature and the utilization of temperatures of 20° and 30°C maintained the consistency similar to the LTLT sample, preserving the compounds responsible for the texture. Therefore, it is suggested a processing of GOB by microfiltration using mild temperatures (between 30° and 40°C) to preserve consistency and also obtain a desirable microbial quality, beyond the preservation of many functional properties and volatile compounds This study involved multiple reactions and reactants, such as Octyl acetate (cas: 112-14-1Application of 112-14-1).

Octyl acetate (cas: 112-14-1) belongs to esters. Esters are widespread in nature and are widely used in industry. In nature, fats are in general triesters derived from glycerol and fatty acids. Esters are responsible for the aroma of many fruits. Acyl chlorides and acid anhydrides alcoholysis is another way to produce esters. Acyl chlorides and acid anhydrides react with alcohols to produce esters. Anydrous conditions are recommended since both acyl chlorides and acid anhydrides react with water.Application of 112-14-1
