Iridium(I)-catalyzed intermol. allylic amidation of Et allyl carbonates with soft nitrogen nucleophiles under completely ‘salt-free’ conditions is described. A combination of [Ir(COD)Cl]2 catalyst, chiral phosphoramidite I as a ligand, and DBU as a base in THF effects the reaction. For example, the allylic amidation of EtOCO2CH2CH:CHR (R = n-Pr, Ph) with NR1R2 (R1 = Ac, R2 = Boc; R1 = R2 = Boc; R1 = Cbz, R2 = Boc; R1 = R2 = Cbz) with catalyst [Ir(COD)Cl]2 and ligand I in presence of DBU in THF proceeded with excellent regio- and enantioselectivities to afford the branched N-protected allylic amines II. II (R = Ph) was converted to α-amino acid III in one step and to β-amino acid IV in two steps. Similarly, II (R = C6H4OMe-4) was conveniently used in the asym. synthesis of (-)-cytoxazone.

Comprehensive Summary : Cheap metal (Fe, Mn, and Co)-catalyzed hydroamination of alkenes has been an attractive method for synthesis of amines because of biocompatibility of metal, excellent Markovnikov selectivity and chemoselectivity. However, most reports are limited to unsaturated nitrogen sources (nitric oxide, azos, azides, cyano, etc.), for which aminated products are very limited. Notably, while used widely for fluorinating reaction, N-fluorobenzenesulfonimide (NFSI) as amine source for hydroamination has seldom been reported. Here authors developed a cobalt-catalyzed intermol. hydroamination of unactivated alkenes using NFSI as nitrogen source under mild conditions. The reaction exhibits excellent chemo- and regio-selectivity with no hydrofluorination or linear-selectivity products. Notably, the reaction proceeded with excellent yield even though the amount of Co(salen) catalyst was reduced to 0.2 mol%. Recently, a similar work was also reported by Zhang and coworkers (reference 19).

Abstract: Amphiphilic copolymer mol. brushes of three different types with side chains consisting of alkyl and oligo(ethylene glycol) blocks based on higher alkoxy oligo(ethylene glycol) methacrylates (HAOEGM), methoxy oligo(ethylene glycol) methacrylates (MOEGM) and dodecyl(meth)acrylate have been successfully synthesized via conventional radical polymerization in toluene. In case of the copolymerization of HAOEGM with MOEGM, the monomer reactivity ratios were independent of the structure of higher alkyl groups (C12-C18) and the degree of ethoxylation (n = 6-11) and were equal to 0.76-0.81 and 1.19-1.27, resp. In case of the copolymerization of HAOEGM or MOEGM with dodecyl methacrylate, the reactivity ratios were even closer to each other (1.00-1.17). Applicability of the reactivity ratios calculated at low conversions for estimating copolymer compositions at high conversions was shown. In all systems, compositionally homogeneous copolymers with a narrow mol. weight distribution were formed. For the HAOEGM (C12, n = 9)-dodecyl acrylate monomer system, the reactivity ratios were 0.88 and 0.25 and the resulting copolymers had high compositional heterogeneity.

Specimens were analyzed by means of immunohistochem. profiling performed on tissue microarrays. Primary endpoint was overall survival (OS). Results: CDX2 loss conferred worse OS (HR = 1.72, 95%CI 1.03-2.86, p = 0.036), as well as high CK7 expression (HR = 2.17, 95%CI 1.10-4.29, p = 0.026). According to Consensus Mol. Subtypes (CMS), CMS1 patients had better OS compared to CMS2-3/CMS4 (HR = 0.37, 95%CI 0.19-0.71, p = 0.003). Samples showing less TILs had worse OS (HR = 1.72, 95%CI 1.16-2.56, p = 0.007). Progression-free survival analyses led to similar results. At multivariate anal., CK7 and CMS subgrouping retained their significant correlation with OS. Conclusion: The present study provides new evidence on how several well-established biomarkers perform in a homogenousV600EBRAF mutated mCRC population, with important and independent information added to standard clin. prognosticators. These data could be useful to inform further translational research, for patients’ stratification in clin. trials and in routine clin. practice to better estimate patients’ prognosis.

Partial hydrogenation can augment the oxidation stability for biodiesel, while its low temperature performance worsens and cetane number excessively increases. Blending ethanol can effectively reconcile it. Therewith partially hydrogenated biodiesel (PHB)-ethanol-diesel ternary blend was established in this study. The performances of combustion, regulated emissions and unregulated emissions of PHB-ethanol-diesel ternary blends and PHB-diesel binary blends were investigated on a turbocharged, 4-cylinder common rail diesel engine operated at various loads of 1800 rpm. It was revealed that no obvious variations on equivalent specific fuel consumptions (ESFCs) occurred between binary blends and ternary blends. Compared to diesel, binary blends possessed lower maximum of cylinder pressure (CP) and heat release rate (HRR) in the main combustion stage, whereas ternary blends exhibited the opposite phenomenon. For the regulated emissions, ternary blends generated higher hydrocarbon (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions but lower smoke emissions, compared to binary blends. For the unregulated emissions, the higher sulfur dioxide (SO2), formaldehyde (HCHO) and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and lower ethylene (C2H4) and ammonia (NH3) emissions were exhausted from ternary blends in comparison to binary blends. Addnl., the law of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and aromatic hydrocarbon (AHC) emissions between ternary blends and binary blends depended on engine load.

The effects of oxidation-reduction (redox) potential (Eh) on microbiol. and sensory characteristics, volatile compounds, and organic acids of kefir produced using wild or com. culture were investigated during 21 d of storage. The Eh of the milk was modified using reducing or oxidizing chem. agents. Eh7 (Eh expresses at pH 7) values of control, reduced and oxidized kefirs produced using the wild kefir culture were -195.5, -206.1 and + 178.3 mV, while control, reduced and oxidized kefirs produced using the com. kefir culture had Eh7 values of -199.6, -208.1 and + 180.7 mV, resp., on 1 d of storage. Generally, the viability of microorganisms in the kefirs was adversely affected by oxidized conditions, but it was species- and strain-dependent. The Eh caused the change of metabolic routes of the microorganisms and, thereby, the change of volatile compounds and organic acids contents of kefir. Principal component anal. (PCA) of the volatile compounds separated the kefirs according to the culture and redox status. Kefirs with low Eh were characterized by the presence of sulfur compounds, whereas kefirs with oxidative Eh were characterized mainly by aldehydes and diacetyl. In addition, reduced Eh caused arising in sensory preference of the kefir samples.

(AgMSG-CC) were adopted to purify eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) from sardine oil Et esters (SOEEs). These methods were systematically compared in terms of physicochem. properties, fatty acid (FA) compositions, and volatile flavor compounds to evaluate the performance and find the superior among them. The AgMSG-CC method was superior in enhancing iodine value (IV) and reducing peroxide value (PV), enriching EPA and DHA from 31.63% to 92.19% and removing undesirable volatiles. Its mild exptl. conditions could avoid the degradation and geometrical isomerization of lipids, and the packed AgMSG column could be reused. Multivariate data anal. was applied to provide an integrated and holistic view of correlation coefficients between the samples and FA species. The results supported the critical role of AgMSG-CC method in purifying EPA and DHA. Finally, this method was validated to be accurate and sensitive in the purification of EPA and DHA from SOEEs. Practical applications : High quality of fish oil is related to its high content of eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and friendly aroma. However, enrichment methods about purifying fish oil affect the percentages of EPA and DHA, physicochem. indexes and the volatile flavor. In this study, the results demonstrated that Ag+ bonded to mercaptopropyl silica gel column chromatog. was the most effective to purify EPA and DHA as well as remove the undesirable odor volatiles.
