Strippable film is effective for removing radioactive contamination. However, it still has some limitations, such as the long curing time (about 30 min∼24 h) and the requirement of organic solvents. To address these issues, we report a simple protocol to prepare strippable decontamination films using liquid polybutadiene (LPB) and tert-Bu acrylate (TBA) as the raw materials without solvent and using camphorquinone/ethyl 4-dimethylaminobenzoate (CQ/EDB) as a photoinitiator, where the film was formed under household LED panel light or daylight irradiation for about 540 s. After a thorough study of viscosity, real-time Fourier transform IR (RT-FTIR spectra), gel and volatile organic compound (VOC) contents, mech. properties and decontamination efficiency, the optimum composition and curing conditions were determined for the decontamination strippable film. VOC content is as low as 12.7 ± 0.7and the resultant strippable film exhibits good mech. performances with a tensile strength of up to 5.4 ± 0.4 MPa and elongation of up to 66.6 ± 13. Most important, the decontamination efficiencies of this strippable film for 133CsCl on glass, ceramic and metal surfaces reach up to 98.1, 94.3and 97.6, resp.

Carboxylesterase 2 (CES2) is one of the most important Phase I drug metabolizing enzymes in the carboxylesterase family. It plays crucial roles in the bioavailability of oral ester prodrugs and the therapeutic effect of some anticancer drugs such as irinotecan (CPT11) and capecitabine. In addition to the well-known roles of CES2 in xenobiotic metabolism, the enzyme also participates in endogenous metabolism and the production of lipids. In this study, we synthesized a series of pyrazolones and assayed their inhibitory effects against CES2 in vitro. Structure-activity relationship anal. of these pyrazolones (I) reveals that the introduction of 4-methylphenyl unit (R1), 4-methylbenzyl (R2) and cyclohexyl (R3) moieties are beneficial for CES2 inhibition. Guided by these SARs results, 1-cyclohexyl-4-(4-methylbenzyl)-3-p-tolyl-1H-pyrazol-5(4H)-one (27, II) was designed and synthesized. Further investigations demonstrated that the compound 27 exhibited stronger CES2 inhibition activity with a lower IC50 value (0.13μM). The inhibition kinetic study demonstrated that compound 27 inhibited the hydrolysis of CES2-fluorescein diacetate (FD) through non-competitive inhibition. In addition, the mol. docking showed that the core of pyrazolone, the cyclohexane moiety, 4-methylbenzyl and 4-methylphenyl groups in compound 27 all played important roles with the amino acid residues of CSE2. Also, compound 27 could inhibit adipocyte adipogenesis induced by mouse preadipocytes. In brief, we designed and synthesized a novel pyrazolone compound with a strong inhibitory ability on CES2 and could inhibit the adipogenesis induced by mouse preadipocytes, which can be served as a promising lead compound for the development of more potent pyrazolone-type CES2 inhibitors, and also used as a potential tool for exploring the biol. functions of CES2 in human being.

UV resistance of versatile plastics has been received attention for a long time, especially of high-d. polyethylene (HDPE). It was studied systematically that hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS) with different mol. structures had an effect on the UV resistance of HDPE. The mol. weights of the two HALS were 423.7 and 2100-3000 g/mol, resp. It was found that the low-mol.-weight HALS outperforms the polymeric one of HDPE matrix in UV resistances due to the different mol. structures. HDPE-containing HALS with different mol. structures followed different degradation mechanisms during artificial accelerated aging. In addition, HDPE matrix composites with low-mol.-weight HALS show better mech. properties than the polymeric one because of the decrease of delay of mol. chain fracture during irradiation Therefore, HDPE matrix composites with low-mol.-weight HALS have better UV degradation resistance. However, polymeric HALS has the advantage of hard to move out of the sample surface.

Sequenced-defined oligomer has been emerged as one of the hot topics in polymer chem. due to its capability of precisely controlling both chain length and monomer sequence. Recent efforts have focused on development of synthetic methodologies using state-of-the-art chem. tools. However, investigating the impact of minor changes in monomer sequence on phys. properties of these materials is still underdeveloped. Herein, four sequenced pentamers are synthesized by a reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) single unit monomer insertion technique, in which a base pentamer possesses a relatively rigid backbone comprising of five cyclic monomer units. One of the cyclic units in this base pentamer is replaced by an acyclic monomer at different locations (the 1st, 3rd and 5th unit) to produce three modified pentamers, which leads to a significant decrease of glass transition temperature (Tg) compared to the base pentamer. Meanwhile, the modified pentamers with identical primary structures but distinct monomer sequences also present different Tg values depending on the position of the acyclic monomer unit. The middle (3rd) position of the acyclic unit causes profound decrease of Tg due to its increased mol. flexibility. These synthetic pentamers have been demonstrated to be excellent oligomeric plasticizers to modulate thermal transitions of bulk polymer materials.

The effect of atm. and high-pressure boiling method on amino acids of chicken skeleton soup was analyzed, and the volatile aromatic compounds were extracted by sold-phase micro-extraction (SPME) and analyzed by GC/MS. Results showed that high-pressure boiling had a significant effect on the content of amino acids and free amino acids (p < 0.05). Sixty-two and 54 kinds of volatile aromatic components were identified in high-pressure boiling and atm. boiling chicken skeleton soup resp. The varieties of volatile aromatic components in two kinds of chicken skeleton soups were similar. However, the contents of these various aromatic components were different. There was no significant difference on sensory evaluation of the two kinds of chicken skeleton soup. High-pressure boiling was a viable boiling process.

Photoresponsive azobenzene polymer has very good applications in the fields of information storage, photonics, mol. switch, etc. This is the first achieved that the azobenzene polymer was prepared by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), using the trimethylolpropane as the initiator of nuclear preparation and using azobenzene as the monomer. The structure of polymer was characterized by the IR spectroscopy (FTIR) and hydrogen NMR spectrometer (1H-NMR), which showed that the desired product had been synthesized successfully. The influences of reaction time and concentration of monomer/initiator on the polymerization were investigated.
