Sepsis is an inflammatory disease characterized by dysregulation of inflammation. Macrophage-mediated inflammation has been implicated in the pathophysiol. of sepsis. Itaconate is a metabolite produced in activated macrophages which has anti-inflammatory activities. In the present study, we investigated the potential effects of a cell-permeable itaconate derivative di-Me itaconate on inflammation in sepsis. We established a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced septic mouse model and administered di-Me itaconate to the septic mice. The survival rate, serum level of pro-inflammatory cytokines, and lung pathol. were evaluated. We also administered di-Me itaconate to LPS-treated bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs), and measured the cytokine production and Nrf2 expression. We also evaluated the effects of di-Me itaconate on Nrf2-deficient mice. Administration of di-Me itaconate enhanced survival rate, decreased serum level of TNF-α and IL-6, and ameliorated lung injury in septic mice. Di-Me itaconate also suppressed LPS-induced production of TNF-α, IL-6, and NOS2 in BMDMs. Di-Me itaconate activated Nrf2 and promoted the expression of Nrf2 and its downstream factor HO-1 and NQO-1. The regulatory activities of di-Me itaconate on inflammatory cytokine production, mouse survival rate were abolished in septic Nrf2-/- mice. Di-Me itaconate suppressed the inflammatory responses of macrophages in sepsis.

New process for preparing the fluoroquinolone antibacterial drug levofloxacin was described. The object compound was prepared from 2,3,4,5-tetrafluorobenzoic acid, via acyl chlorination, Et N,N-dimethylamino-acrylate coupling, S-(+)-2-aminopropanol displacement, cyclization, hydrolysis, and finally N-methylpiperazine condensation, the total yield is 52.3%. Comparing to the old process conventionally used at present, the application of the new starting material Et N, N-dimethylamino-acrylate can curtail three reaction steps, they are the di-Et malonate condensation, partial hydrolysis decarboxylation and triethylorthoformate condensation. New process has many advantages, such as simple procedure, short reaction period, high optical purity, cheaper raw material, higher yield. So it should have a good prospect for industrial application.

The anal. was carried out using automatic static headspace-solid phase micro-extraction-gas chromatog.-mass spectrometry. Moreover, the effect of mass ratio between purple sweet potato pulp and sacchrified sticky rice pulp on wine quality was studied. The results showed that the best mass ratio between purple sweet potato pulp and sacchrified sticky rice pulp was in the range of 3: 2-1: 1; the aroma of purple sweet potato and rice wine was composed mainly of esters, alcs., aldehydes, ketones, and alkyl vinyl. Totally 73 aroma components were identified, including 55, 54 and 55 components individually observed in the wines fermented with alc. active dry yeast, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae 1383 and 1596, resp., and 38 aroma components were common to the three wines. The most predominant aroma compound in these three wines was pentanol with relative contents of 17.67%, 17.84% and 18.63%, resp.

In this article, the lanthanum phenylphosphonates (LaPPA2) and cerium phenylphosphonates (CePPA2) were synthesized and the effect on the crystallization conducts and mech. performances of isotactic polypropylene (iPP) were studied. After adding 0.05wt.% of LaPPA2 and CePPA2, the crystallization temperature enhanced appreciably. The polarized optical microscopy (POM) imagines indicated that the LaPPA2 and CePPA2 could accelerate the crystallization speed and reduce the spherulites sizes significantly. The presence of LaPPA2 and CePPA2 decreased appreciably the non-isothermal crystallization kinetics parameter F(T). Meanwhile, the nucleation efficiency of LaPPA2 and CePPA2 was similar to industrial standard NAs NA-11, HPN20E and HPN68L. In addition, the mech. properties of iPP have been improved by adding LaPPA2 and CePPA2. According to the investigation of nucleated iPP viscoelasticity, it can be confirmed that the CH/π interplay between iPP and the aromatic groups of LaPPA2 and CePPA2 promoted the attachment of iPP helix and following nucleation.

Trimethylolpropane acrylate (TMPTA) is becoming an important organic chem. intermediate, but it’s synthesis through the acid-catalyzed esterification of trimethylolpropane and acrylic acid is a challenge due to the poor activity and catalyst separation problems. In this work, a series of 1,3-propanesultone (PS)-functionalized imidazole ionic liquids (ILs) are prepared and evaluated as the acid catalysts for this reaction, including the catalytic performance comparison, optimization of reaction conditions, and the catalytic reusability. The obtained H2SO4-based IL ([IMPSH]HSO4) caused a phase-separation catalytic process (reacted as a homogeneous catalyst, but precipitated at the end of reaction like a heterogeneous catalyst), presenting the best trimethylolpropane conversion (100%) and TMPTA selectivity (86.4%). Such catalytic performance is even better than that of homogeneous H2SO4. Moreover, the catalyst can be steadily reused at least four times without obvious change in activity and its structure. The highly efficient and environmentally benign performance of [IMPSH]HSO4-catalyzed esterification of trimethylolpropane and acrylic acid make it possible to achieve industrial applications.

Herein, we report a photocatalytic defluoroborylation platform through direct B-H activation of N-heterocyclic carbene boranes, through the synergistic merger of a photoredox catalyst and a hydrogen atom transfer catalyst. This atom-economic and operationally simple protocol has enabled defluoroborylation of an extremely broad scope of multifluorinated substrates including polyfluoroarenes, gem-difluoroalkenes, and trifluoromethylalkenes in a highly selective fashion. Intriguingly, the defluoroborylation protocol can be transition-metal free, and the regioselectivity obtained is complementary to the reported transition-metal-catalysis in many cases.

In this study, L-rhamnose monohydrate (LRM) was used as a model compound of seaweed polysaccharide to study its pyrolysis and catalytic pyrolysis mechanism. Initially, the weight loss curve of LRM was obtained by thermogravimetric anal. The main weight loss temperature was found to be at 350-550°C. Then, the pyrolysis mechanism of LRM was analyzed and verified by macroscopic experiments and mol. simulations. Experiments showed that the bio-oil yield was highest when the temperature reached around 500°C, and the bio-oil contained large amount of furan substances. Finally, the effects of different proportions of catalysts (Mg-Ce/ZSM-5) on bio-oil products were studied, and the catalytic reaction mechanism was discussed.
