In this study, a unique magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer (MMIP) adsorbent towards bisphenol A (BPA) as a template mol. was developed by bulk polymerization using å°?cyclodextrin (å°?CD) as a co-monomer with methacrylic acid (MAA) to form MMIP MAA-å°¾CD as a new adsorbent. å°?CD was hybridized with MAA to obtain water-compactible imprinting sites for the effective removal of BPA from aqueous samples. Benzoyl peroxide and trimethylolpropane trimethacrylate were used as the initiator and cross-linker, resp. The adsorbents were characterized by Fourier transform IR spectroscopy, scanning electronic microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, vibrating sample magnetometer, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller and X-ray diffraction. 1H NMR spectroscopy was used to characterize the MAA-å°¾CD and BPA-MAA-å°¾CD complex. Several parameters influencing the adsorption efficiency of BPA such as adsorbent dosage, pH of sample solution, contact time, initial concentrations and temperature as well as selectivity and reusability study have been evaluated. MMIP MAA-å°¾CD showed significantly higher removal efficiency and selective binding capacity towards BPA compared to MMIP MAA owing to its unique morphol. with the presence of å°?CD. The kinetics data can be well described by the pseudo second-order kinetic and Freundlich isotherm and Halsey models best fitted the isotherm data. The thermodn. studies indicated that the adsorption reaction was a spontaneous and exothermic process. Therefore, MMIP based on the hybrid monomer of MAA-å°¾CD shows good potential of a new monomer in molecularly imprinted polymer preparation and can be used as an effective adsorbent for the removal of BPA from aqueous solutions

Clerodendrum infortunatum belongs to the Lamiaceae family and is a perennial shrub. It is widely known for their important medicinal values among the Mizo tribe. In the present study, the preliminary phytochem. screening, quantification of phenols, flavonoids and alkaloids, antioxidant activities by DPPH, O2- and ABTS assays and cytotoxicity by MTT assay against AGS (gastric cancer), HeLa (cervical) and HT-29 (colon) cell lines compared with normal cell line (Chang liver) were performed. Furthermore, the GC-MS profiling was also conducted. The results imply the presence of saponin, alkaloid, cardiac glycoside, phenol and flavonoid. The quantification shows that phenol content (64.35 mg/ g) was highest followed by flavonoid (61.93 mg/ g) and alkaloid (13.33 mg/ g). Its scavenging efficiency against DPPH with IC50 value was 47.99, against O2- with IC50 was 108 渭g/mL and against ABTS cations with IC50 was 50.05 渭g/mL, resp. The ethanol extract exhibited a maximum cytotoxicity against HeLa with IC50 value of 53.55 渭g/mL, AGS with IC50 value 82.44 渭g/mL and HT-29 with IC50 value of 142.2 渭g/mL. However, the extract showed comparatively less toxicity against normal cell lines. Moreover, 14 active compounds were confirmed in the GC-MS anal. of the extract HPLC study also infers the occurrence of the flavonoids rutin and quercetin. Therefore, the results of C. infortunatum ethanolic extract clearly specified that it has a very high antioxidant activity as well as cytotoxic properties; which proved that this ethnomedicinal plant can be used as an alternative agent to treat a variety of illnesses.

Selenoprotein P (SELENOP) is a major selenium (Se)-containing protein (selenoprotein) in human plasma that is mainly synthesized in the liver. SELENOP transports Se to the cells, while SELENOP synthesized in peripheral tissues is incorporated in a paracrine/autocrine manner to maintain the levels of cellular selenoproteins, called the SELENOP cycle. Pancreatic å°?cells, responsible for the synthesis and secretion of insulin, are known to express SELENOP. Here, using MIN6 cells as a mouse model for pancreatic å°?cells and Selenop small interfering (si)RNA, we found that Selenop gene knockdown (KD) resulted in decreased cell viability, cellular pro/insulin levels, insulin secretion, and levels of several cellular selenoproteins, including glutathione peroxidase 4 (Gpx4) and selenoprotein K (Selenok). These dysfunctions induced by Selenop siRNA were recovered by the addition of Se. Ferroptosis-like cell death, regulated by Gpx4, was involved in the decrease of cell viability by Selenop KD, while stress-induced nascent granule degradation (SINGD), regulated by Selenok, was responsible for the decrease in proinsulin. SINGD was also observed in the pancreatic å°?cells of Selenop knockout mice. These findings indicate a significant role of SELENOP expression for the function of pancreatic å°?cells by maintaining the levels of cellular selenoproteins such as GPX4 and SELENOK.

The mesopores are originated from the degradation of hydrophobic segment PPO of F127, and the micropores come from the gases CO2, CO, NH3, CH4, tetraethylene glycol di-Me ether, and 2,6-diisopropylphenyl isocyanate produced during the degradation of prepolymers. The maximum adsorption capacity of this mesoporous carbon for tannic acid (Sips model) at 30 掳C is 70.4 mg/g.

The synthesis of novel anthranilic diamides derivatives I [R = HC, N, Cl-C; R4 = O2N, F3C, i-Pr, etc; R5 = Me, i-Pr] incorporating pyrrole moiety targeting at insect RyRs. The preliminary bioassay results indicated that most of the title compounds I showed good to excellent insecticidal activities against oriental armyworm (Mythimna separata) and diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella). For oriental armyworm, I [R = N; R4 = H; R5 = Me] displayed the same level of larvicidal activity as the pos. control chlorantraniliprole, with the LC50 value of 0.21 mg/L. For diamondback moth II [R5 = Me; X = Br], [R5 = i-Pr; X = Br], [R5 = Me; X = Cl] and [R5 = i-Pr; X = Cl] exhibited higher insecticidal activities than chlorantraniliprole. In particular, In had 50% larvicidal activity at 0.00001 mg/L. Calcium imaging technique was applied to study the effect of I [R = N; R4 = H; R5 = Me] and II [R5 = Me; X = Br, Cl] on the intracellular calcium ion concentration ([Ca2+]i) in central neurons isolated from oriental armyworm. The results indicated that the tested compoundsI and II, like chlorantraniliprole was activate the insect ryanodine receptors.
