A cyclopentanone ethylene ketal was prepared, brominated, and dehydrobrominated to give a cyclopentadienone ethylene ketal. Similarly prepared were cyclopentadienone dimethyl and 1,3-propanediyl ketals. Diels-Alder adducts were prepared from the ethylene ketal and maleic anhydride and p-benzoquinone.
