A manganese-catalyzed oxidative kinetic resolution of cyclic benzylic ethers through asymmetric C(sp(3))-H oxidation is reported. The practical approach is applicable to a wide range of 1,3-dihydroisobenzofurans bearing diverse functional groups and substituent patterns at the alpha position with extremely efficient enantiodiscrimination. The generality of the strategy was further demonstrated by efficient oxidative kinetic resolution of another type of five-membered cyclic benzylic ether, 2,3-dihydrobenzofurans, and six-membered 6H-benzo[c]chromenes. Direct late-stage oxidative kinetic resolution of bioactive molecules that are otherwise difficult to access was further explored.

Two microporous organic polymer immobilized palladium (MOP-Pd) catalysts were prepared from benzene and 1,10-phenanthroline by Scholl coupling reaction and Friedel-Crafts reaction, respectively. The structure and composition of the catalyst were characterized by FT-IR, TGA, N-2 sorption, SEM, TEM, ICP-AES and XPS. MOP-Pd catalysts were found to possess high specific surface areas, large pore volume and low skeletal bone density. Moreover, the immobilized catalyst also had advantages, such as readily available raw materials, chemical and thermal stability, and low synthetic cost. The Pd catalyst is an effective heterogeneous catalyst for carbon-carbon (C-C) coupling reactions, such as the Heck reaction and Suzuki-Miyaura reaction, affording good to high yields. In these reactions, the catalyst was easily recovered and reused five times without significant activity loss.

The development of efficient catalysts and processes for synthesizing functionalized (olefinic and/or chiral) primary alcohols and fluoral hemiacetals is currently needed. These are valuable building blocks for pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, perfumes, and so forth. From an economic standpoint, bench-stable Takasago Int. Corp.’s Ru-PNP, more commonly known as RuMACHO, and Gusev’s Ru-SNS complexes are arguably the most appealing molecular catalysts to access primary alcohols from esters and H-2 (Waser, M. et al. Org. Proc. Res. Dev. 2018, 22, 862). This work introduces economically competitive Ru-SNP(O)(z) complexes (z = 0, 1), which combine key structural elements of both of these catalysts. In particular, the incorporation of SNP heteroatoms into the ligand skeleton was found to be crucial for the design of a more product-selective catalyst in the synthesis of fluoral hemiacetals under kinetically controlled conditions. Based on experimental observations and computational analysis, this paper further extends the current state-of-the-art understanding of the accelerative role of KO-t-C4H9 in ester hydrogenation. It attempts to explain why a maximum turnover is seen to occur starting at similar to 25 mol % base, in contrast to only similar to 10 mol % with ketones as substrates.

In contrast to the plethora of large-bite-angle bisphosphine ligands available to transition-metal catalysis, the development of small-bite-angle bisphosphine ligands has suffered from the limited structural variations accessible on their single-atom-containing backbones. Herein, we report the design and applications of a discrete very small bite-angle bisphosphine ligand, namely, FMPhos. Featuring a fluorene-methylene unit appended on the single-carbon linker, the ligand harbors an unusually rigid backbone that presumably stabilizes its complexation with transition metals during catalysis. Compared with the known dppm ligand, it exhibited superior reactivity and regioselectivity in a number of alkene hydrofunctionalization reactions, catalyzed by iridium and rhodium.

Isocyanates are useful building blocks for the synthesis of amides, although their widespread use has been limited by their high reactivity, which often results in poor functional group tolerance and a propensity to oligomerize. Herein, a rhodium-catalyzed synthesis of amides is described coupling boroxines with blocked (masked) isocyanates. The success of the reaction hinges on the ability to form both the isocyanate and the organorhodium intermediates in situ. Relying on masked isocyanate precursors and on the high reactivity of the organorhodium intermediate results in broad functional group tolerance, including protic nucleophilic groups such as amines, anilines, and alcohols.

I found the field of Chemistry; Food Science & Technology very interesting. Saw the article Changes in structure and flavor of egg yolk gel induced by lipid migration under heating published in 2020. COA of Formula: C10H11NO4, Reprint Addresses Jin, YG (corresponding author), Huazhong Agr Univ, Coll Food Sci & Technol, Natl Res & Dev Ctr Egg Proc, Wuhan, Hubei, Peoples R China.. The CAS is 99-27-4. Through research, I have a further understanding and discovery of Dimethyl 5-aminoisophthalate

Lipid migration is widespread in food system and has an important effect on food quality. It is urgent to explore the lipid migration in egg yolk after heating. The content of lipids in upper part (HL) was higher than that in bottom part (LL), and the lipids migration in yolk gel under heating were confirmed by MRI (T1) and T2 relaxation time of LF-NMR. Subsequently, the XDR result demonstrated the high lipid content induced the decrease in crystallinity of protein in HL part. The structures of HL part trend to be more ordered, stable (beta-sheet & beta-turns) and flat (alpha-helices) than LL part, also, more water distributed in LL part were observed by FTIR spectrum. The SEM results revealed that lipids migrated from LL to HL part, eventually lead to the protein in HL part of heated yolk gel unfold, the globular structure collapsed and become flatter. Morever, ethyl acetate, hexanal, etc. and hexanal, ethyl acetate, dimethyl-silanediol, etc. were identified as the main VOCs of LL and HL part of heated yolk gel, respectively. Lipid migration result in more lipid-specific volatiles were formed in the HL part, such as hexanal, 3-hydroxy-cyclohexanone, 2-pentyl-furan, D-limonene, 2-ethyl-1-hexanol, benzeneacetaldehyde. Lipid migration in heated yolk gel, caused by heat treatment, resulted in the changes of structure and flavor between HL and LL part.

This report describes the synthesis of five new colorful 6-aryldibenzo[b,d]pyrylium cation salts, a largely unexplored structural unit. These rare compounds are benzannulated structural derivatives of the well-known flavylium cations found widespread in natural pigments. These new dyes are directly compared to three previously synthesized 6-aryldibenzo[b,d]pyrylium cation salts as well as eight colorful isomeric 9-aryldibenzo[b,d]pyrylium cation, or 9-arylxanthylium, salts. The 9-arylxanthylium unit is commonly found in the biologically important rhodamine and rosamine dyes, yet six of the analogs presented in this study were either previously unreported or not isolated. The visual and spectroscopic properties of all 16 compounds were analyzed as a function of the structural differences between the compounds. All compounds displayed reversible halochromism in organic solution, displaying bright colors under acidic conditions and becoming colorless under basic conditions. (C) 2020 Elsevier Ltd. I found the field of Tropical Medicine very interesting. Saw the article Toxicity of several botanical essential oils and their combinations against females of Aedes albopictus (Skuse) and Anopheles minimus (Theobald): Oviposition deterrent, ovicidal and adulticidal efficacies published in 2019.0. Computed Properties of C10H10O2, Reprint Addresses Soonwera, M (corresponding author), King Mongkuts Inst Technol Ladkrabang, Fac Agr Technol, Dept Plant Prod Technol, Bangkok 10520, Thailand.. The CAS is 103-26-4. Through research, I have a further understanding and discovery of Methyl 3-phenyl-2-propenoate

Objective: To investigate the efficacies of 12 essential oil (EO) formulations from three Zingiberaceae plants (Alpinia galanga, Curcuma zedoaria, and Zingiber cassumunar) individually and in combination with an augmenting Eucalyptus globulus (E. globulus) EO against females of Aedes albopictus (Ae. albopictus) and Anopheles minimus (An. minimus). Methods: These formulations were evaluated for their ovicidal, oviposition deterrent and adulticidal activities against Ae. albopictus and An. minimus by a topical method, a double-choice method and a WHO susceptibility test, respectively. Results: It was found that all formulations of Zingiberaceae plants EOs augmented with E. globulus EO were more effective in oviposition deterrent, ovicidal, and adulticidal activities against the two mosquito species than all of the formulations used without E. globulus EO. Their oviposition deterrent, ovicidal and adulticidal activities were equivalent to those of 10% w/v cypennethrin. In contrast, 70% v/v ethyl alcohol as a control alone was not effective at all. The highest synergistic effect in effective repellency against Ae. albopictus was achieved by 5% Alpinia galanga EO + 5% E. globulus EO and against An. minimus was 5% Zingiber cassumunar EO + 5% E. globulus EO. Moreover, the highest synergistic effects in ovicidal activities against Ae. albopictus and An. minimus were achieved by 10% Zingiber cassumunar EO + 10% E. globulus EO and 5% Curcuma zedoaria EO + 5% E. globulus EO, respectively. For the adulticidal activities, the highest synergistic effect against two mosquitoes was achieved by 5% Curcuma zedoaria EO + 5% E. globulus EO. Conclusions: These results suggest that Zingiberaceae plant EOs augmented with E. globulus EO have a high potential to be developed into oviposition deterrent, ovicidal, and adulticidal agents for controlling populations of Ae. albopictus and An. minimus.

Porous microspheres from discotic tripeptides have been investigated as potential candidates for drug delivery vehicles. The C-3 symmetric discotic tripeptide adopts a supramolecular helical column structure by three fold intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions as well as face to face pi-pi stacking interactions. But the C-2 symmetric discotic tripeptide adopts a supramolecular dimer like structure by six-fold intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions and face to face pi-pi stacking interactions. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) revealed that the C-3 symmetric discotic tripeptide exhibits bird nest-like porous microsphere morphology formed by the assembly of the individual columns. However the C-2 symmetric discotic tripeptide forms round clay pitcher like porous microspheres. These porous microspheres have been used as potential carriers for the sustained release of a bacteriostatic antibiotic sulfamethoxazole. The spectroscopic studies as well as the growth inhibition of E. coli reveal that the round clay pitcher-like porous microspheres are more efficient than the bird nest-like porous microspheres for the sustained release of drugs. The report highlights the importance of the self-assembly pattern for the fabrication of advanced functional materials.

A versatile and DES-compatible bipyridine palladium complex has been developed as a general pre-catalyst for different cross-coupling reactions (Hiyama, Suzuki-Miyaura, Heck-Mizoroki and Sonogashira) in deep eutectic solvents. Hydrogen bond capacity of the ligand allows to keep the excellent level of results previously obtained in classical organic solvents. Palladium pre-catalyst showed a high catalytic activity for many cross-coupling reactions, demonstrating a great versatility and applicability. Also, this methodology employs sustainable solvents as a reaction medium and highlights the potential of DES as alternative solvents in organometallic catalysis. The catalyst and DES were easily and successfully recycled. The formation of PdNPs in DES has been confirmed by TEM and XPS analysis and their role as catalyst by mercury test. The dynamic coordination of bipyridine-type ligand in the palladium complex formation has been studied via UV/Vis.
